Last summer memories from holiday in Austria.On that day we visited the WATER TRAILS of Wild Waters of the Talbac river in the Untertal valley in Rohrmoos. From the car park, we joined the alpine theme trail through "Höllschlucht" canyon. The trail leads along the Riesach creek, passing the Lower and Upper Riesach waterfall (the latter is the largest waterfall in Styria) and leading through the Höllschlucht canyon to Gfölleralm and Riesachsee lake. Once you get to the top and cross the creek via wooden bridge right above the Upper Waterfall, the actual trail through Höllschlucht canyon begins. It starts with a crossing a 50 m steel rope suspension bridge that spans the canyon; that takes a bit of courage. But the fun doesn’t end there and you continue the walk by climbing a series of metal bridges and ladders before finally reaching the Riesachsee lake at 1373 m. These are few picturesque shots taken along the theme trail in the Höllschlucht canyon.

One beautiful afternoon my Dad took us and Mom on a little road trip to the south-eastern parts of the province. One of stops was on top of a hill offering a fantastic view all around.
Probably not so much for the view, but for its strategic location a fortress had been built on top of the hill in the 11th century.
Today Schloss (Castle) Kapfenstein is a hotel and restaurant and also a winery. We didn't try the local wine, but enjoyed the view sipping coffee. Normally we would have some cake with that coffee, but we were still so stuffed from Mom's home cooked lunch.
