The Eastern Platform was taken out of use in 1914, and sealed off. In its later life, the platform was used to test tile patterns and styles that would be applied elsewhere on the network.
Taken during a tour of Aldwych underground station, organised by the London Transport Museum.
First proposed by Great Northern and Strand Railway (GN&SR) in 1898, Aldwych station finally opened by Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway (GNP&BR) in 1907 as Strand station, on a spur line from Holborn. The building itself was built following the standard design of stations as part of Underground Electric Railways Company of London (UERL) Leslie Green (1875-1908) .
Considering the purpose of the tube line was to bring travellers down to theatreland, it's quite ironic therefore that it was built on the site of the Royal Strand Theatre (which was acquired and demolished for the works).
The eastern tunnel was decommissioned in 1914, due to low use, and the station was renamed Aldwych the following year. In 1917, during zeppelin raids, 300 paintings from the National Gallery were stored on the disused Eastern platform. The station continued to operate after the Great War, but always in low numbers.
In 1940, during the Second World War, Aldwych was closed and acted as an air raid shelter, as well as resuming its role of storing national treasures (this time the British Museum and allegedly the Royal Family's tea service).
The station reopened in 1946, but passenger numbers stayed low and eventually the station closed for good in 1994.

The Alexandria Tea Rooms at 26 to 34 Lydiard Street in the provincial Victorian city of Ballarat, was apparently constructed for the Commercial Club in 1872.
The building is designed in the conservative Classical Revival style. The iron verandah is distinctive in design and the balustrade panel motif is most unusual and may be of local origin. The use of the triple window motif for the windows at first floor level is unusual. A double storey cast iron verandah faces the building, with paired columns at each end and supporting the central gabled section, a motif repeated in the balustraded parapet. The iron verandah balustrade is distinctive. Roman Doric pilasters and columns face the ground floor and a triple window motif is repeated above.
The Alexandria Tea Rooms forms part of an important streetscape of Lydiard Street in the centre of Ballarat's business district and is part of the townscape of historic Ballarat. It is historically important and is of architectural consequence for its detailing and verandah.
Open Mon-Fri, this little 3D taco truck has all the trimmings. Wonderful home-style tacos right out of the side window on old route 66, I just love trekking across the "Old Route" and seeing all the great retro stuff.

After choosing Mudflap's car mode as my new Skids, I started by adding a new G1 styled head. I used the "ears" from Mudflap's original head, and the rest is totally sculpted in epoxy putty.
I also added the G1 cannons on each arm. These were kitbashed from a Star Wars model kit.
I airbrushed a blue base color and several layers of metallic blue on top of it, this gave him a really shiny look.
I thought that the original racing stripes from the G1 toy wouldn't look very good on this modern day car, so I used the stripes from the movie version of Skids (Chevy Beat), but with the G1 colors.
The car mode is totally clean and I gave the robot mode a little weathering, for a more movie look.
