Fishing in Lao-Style with a traditional fishing net, which opens out into a circle, lands in the water and the lead rings on its edge weight it down on the river bed, thus trapping any fish that happen to be going that way. Much of what is done here requires skill and hard work. To hurl a net to the right spot at the right time and come home with dinner or lunch is important to these people. It looks not that difficult cause he managed to catch a few nice fish. He ended up with a few small baskets of fish and cooked them over a fire on kept some to bring home. Sticky rice is the main food for Lao.The ware that they used to contain their rice after steaming is called Tipkao, Elpkao or Kongkao. Lao man have to be skillful in farming, make bamboo strips, fishing net and other works, while the women should be skillful in cotton spinning, textile weaving, silkworm raising, cooking and poultry-raising.

Een visser gooit z'n net uit om vis te vangen. Hierbij zakt het lood naar beneden en trekt hij het net weer samen om te kijken of hij iets gevangen heeft. Daarna gooit hij het net opnieuw voor een volgende poging. De visser met z'n bootje aan de zijkant van de machtige Mekong rivier. De Mekong is 4909 kilometer lang en wordt beschouwd als één van de belangrijke rivieren in Azië. De bruine kleur betekent niet dat het water is vuil maar wijst de grote kracht van o.a. meesleuren van land. Vrouwen wassen hun kleren langs de rivieroever en jongens springen in de rivier. De biodiversiteit van de Mekong bergen is één van rijkst aan de wereld. In de rivier leeft de grootste soort meerval ter wereld. Meer dan 1200 soorten vis zijn geïdentificeerde en misschien nog wel meer. De visserij is economisch zeer belangrijk en een essentiële bron van proteïne in het lokale dieet. In het lage gedeelte bij de Mekong-delta komen zelfs nog de bezondere irrawaddydolfijnen voor. Het leven gaat hier zeer gemoedelijk, zo rustig als de stroming van de modderige Mekong rivier. Je gemoedstoestand wordt al gauw één met deze prachtige en rustgevende omgeving.

Saint-Eustache church viewed from the upper floor of the Bourse de Commerce. It is the third largest church in Paris after Notre-Dame and Saint-Sulpice, took two and a half centuries to reach its present form - from the beginning of construction in 1532 to the French Revolution that left unfinished the tower of the western facade - and it has bits in almost every traditional style - gothic, romanic, renaissance and neo-classical. In addition to being an active parish church it also runs an extensive musical programme.

One of my favourite Francie outfits of all time is 'Style Setters' from 1966/67. I was fortunate enough to get an almost minty example of it recently, even with the HTF blue shoes, and was inspired by the way it was shown (without the fab floral lined velvet cape and hood) in the TV ad for Francie's outfits, where they say: 'And stockings... like WILD!' hehe.
The model is my brunette 1967 TNT Francie (She was VERY TLC when I got her - all for $5!! - and I have been neglecting her lately, so I think she deserved another moment ... This one is for you Deany, who implored me that I keep her and not replace her with a 'mintier' version! You were right, Deany!) I have the TV ad in colour on DVR but see the fuzzy black & white

In this heat month, there are many hunts with interesting gifts to make the summer more enjoyable. We can go camping with the good gifts of “Let’s go gampling”, the girls can increase their wardrobes with the Beach Bunny Hunt and the Punk Rock Girl Hunt, and the boys can enjoy with the motorcycles and vehicles that H & C W give us in their store.
