THE SECOND HALF OF THE NIGHT I spent in Ansfelden. It was one of the rainiest nights in my life and the morning after was no exception. The rain wore off but not completely and the mood was dismal. I took a stroll around the hill with the parish church and payed due visit to Pfarrhof (Parish and clergy seat). In an hour time I only saw three people, swiftly walking the dogs who don't mind the rain as we know.

The Parish seat and court in the foreground are impeccably maintained. In the background rises the tower of parish church, to the right of which lies the birth house of Bruckner, and to the left the ABC (Anton Bruckner Centrum).

Music can be light entertainment, background sound, party fun, dancing motor, accompaniment at work or rituals, social element, ethnic root, crowd driver, study material, vanity object, period fashion, survival means, instrument playing or money making. Music of Bruckner is an existential phenomenon, resonance of the otherworldly harmonies that might await us in the Lord's Kingdom.

The drizzle of stars scattered across this image forms a galaxy known as UGC 4879. UGC 4879 is an irregular dwarf galaxy — as the name suggests, galaxies of this type are a little smaller and messier than their cosmic cousins, lacking the majestic swirl of a spiral or the coherence of an elliptical.

This galaxy is also very isolated. There are about 2.3 million light years between UGC 4879 and its closest neighbor, Leo A, which is about the same distance as that between the Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way.

This galaxy’s isolation means that it has not interacted with any surrounding galaxies, making it an ideal laboratory for studying star formation uncomplicated by interactions with other galaxies. Studies of UGC 4879 have revealed a significant amount of star formation in the first 4 billion years after the Big Bang, followed by a strange 9-billion-year lull in star formation that ended 1 billion years ago by a more recent re-ignition. The reason for this behavior, however, remains mysterious, and the solitary galaxy continues to provide ample study material for astronomers looking to understand the complex mysteries of star birth throughout the universe.

For some years now my daughter has been studying Materials Science. For a long time I thought this had something to do with knitting or weaving. It transpires that’s not the case :(

As far as I can tell the subject is to do with the discovery of novel “stuff” to make devices like phones better… or aero engines hotter for that matter. To my consternation I found out my daughter was more involved in the latter. I think, secretly, I had wished for knitting after all :)

And why? “I like looking at pretty pictures!” she says. So far, so like me.

Except she tends to use very expensive particle cameras that use quantum mechanics to work. So not so far after all - a long way from the humble Nikcanons types that we all have in our bags.

The pictures are still pretty though :)

Part of my confusion about the subject is that my daughter is, in fact, rather good at knitting too. My mother always used a printed pattern for hers, but my daughter invents the pattern in her head and follows that. It works. I find that quite remarkable. Mind you, having tried the process, I am always impressed by anyone who can produce a garment with two knitting needles however they do it - it’s way beyond me as I have proved to myself.

So all this preamble is to explain this image of her work: not knitting this time but a crocheted throw she made for one of her chairs. You can see all that quantum science oozing out all over the pixels…

As usual I shall post a link to the quiescent state of the material, so that you can judge the true effect of the quantum innervation :)

Thank you for taking the time to look and for all your comments. I hope you enjoy the image and smile at the text :) Happy Sliders Sunday!

Known as a grand design spiral galaxy. M51 is actually two interacting galaxies, the smaller galaxy being that of NGC 5195. Laying at the outermost tip of one of M51's spiral arms. The two galaxies have spent the last several million years gliding past one another. Galaxies such has the Whirlpool that lie face on to us from our viewpoint here on Earth, make for great study material for astronomers.

Charles Messier is credited with discovering the Whirlpool galaxy in 1773. It can be found 31 million light years away close to the tail of the Great Bear.

Surprise! We're not dead! In fact, we're far from it. Soon we'll both be heading off for college, Justin for the University of California Los Angeles studying materials engineering, and Jordan for the University of California Davis studying psychology.

So, as you might have guessed, this chapter of our interaction with the LEGO community will soon draw to a close.

"But wait, you can't just leave Flickr!! We want to see more builds!!"

Whoa, calm down there. Just because this chapter is ending doesn't mean the next chapter isn't coming, and it might come sooner than you think. We'll both be bringing some LEGO with us, and you might even get to see some builds while we're away. Jordan will definitely be posting some photos since he was one of the photographers chosen by GI Brick to do product photography for them, so expect to see the occasional little scene or minifigure. Who knows what you might see in the next couple months?

"Ok, so you're both going off to college, but how do you explain the last eight months of inactivity!?!"

Well, it is true we haven't posted much this year, and for many academic, social, and personal reasons. However, this does not mean we haven't had projects in the works. In fact, we've been working on a project that we invested (and are still investing) quite a bit of our summer into. It is one of our most ambitious and time-consuming projects to date, and for those reasons it will likely remain unfinished until we can return home to work on it again. For now it will remain a secret, but we may post snippets or teasers if we ever have enough of it ready to post. One hint for now: it is our only foray to date into content directly based on a video game. We aren't gamers, nor do we even own the game we chose to build from, but this game truly captured our imaginations with its breathtaking visuals, stellar gameplay, and sincere storytelling. Hopefully we do it justice.

So, this is certainly not the end, nor is it even a goodbye; it's just a quick update as we get ready to start the next chapter of our lives. Thanks to everyone who has followed and supported us as we grew up around the brick and let it shape our lives for the better. Some of our best times, proudest moments, and funniest interactions have taken place right here on this site. The friends and community we've spent so much time with on this site is irreplaceable, and we hope that our lives will not lead us too far astray from it.

If anyone has any questions, comments, suggestions for college, or anything to say whatsoever, drop a comment below or FM us anytime :)

Rick retired a few years back and moved from New York to sunny Florida. He wanted to be a guide at the Castillo de San Marcos.

Although he was a frequent visitor he admitted that he knew nothing about the Castillo. However since he had such a desire to be part of the landmark, the people gave him a lot of study materials and made him a volunteer.

Sometimes I get bored while I'm studying.

So I take photos of my study materials. :D

i'm starting a tradition - i'll take a picture of a pencil and my study materials everytime i get sick of stuying, which is every now and then, when some difficult exams are ahead. right now it's a partial exam of my finals encompassing 6 subjects. feels like slow nervous breakdown..

btw.. the first shot in the getting-sick-of-studying series was this one.

EDIT: i passed with A. :))))

The city of Dunlap now lies almost deserted. A few houses are still inhabited - their yards littered with decades of rusted junk and abandoned cars.

Dunlap is a special place. Unfortunately, it is a place which I find very sad indeed.

It was once a black town - part of the "Exoduster" movement of the late 19th century when Black people from the deep south moved into Kansas to found all black towns to find more fair treatment and better lives.

This church was the focal point of their community. It thrived for many decades, despite pressure from a Ku Klux Klan chapter in Council Grove just to the north. In the end, it was the abandonment of the railroad line - which also doomed the nearby town of Bushong - which spelled the end for Dunlap after WWII.

What affects me most about this place was in trash cans out back. Never emptied and nearly sealed, they preserved some of the study material from the church's final day on August 11, 1946.

Along with the Biblical lesson was the following passage listed as a topic of discussion for the day: "Following the close of World War II, indications are that there are many forms of oppression remaining. On every hand we hear and read of the struggle and uses of force, diplomacy and economic measures to restrain nations, countries and races from obtaining the so called "Four Freedoms," upon which it was declared, the war was being waged. Many nations of the world continue to oppress others.

In America the class and economic struggle between groups, races, etc. are all evidences of modern forms of oppression."

With that, the last of the congregation left that day, never to return. It appears that an owner afterward used this sacred place as a barn...

Let us all hope that someday those words of half a century ago will not still be relevant. The fight to end oppression here and around the world must always continue.

i am broke. levenger took all my money, but at least i have a REALLY cool setup.

Happy October.

Man that's so creepy/weird to me. It shouldn't be October. July MAYBE. I can't believe in two months we'll be sending 2011 out the door. EERRRIIEE YO!

Heheh, I love wrist doodles and such so much. Some of you have heard that a million times, but I really do. And also I've been using cursive a lot more lately. I don't know why, but it looks pretty to me. Well, mine isn't that pretty but the concept is lolol.

Omg you know what I hate??? When teachers give you a study guide and review packet and you study them and then like a handful of test questions are nowhere on your studying materials? Yahh that's cool. Fricken B on a test last week that I could've got an A on if that crap hadn't been on there. Ohh well. Ya win some ya lose some I suppose.

FLD;JAF;FAJRK A HYPNOTIST CAME TO MY SCHOOL ON FRIDAY FOR PSYCHOLOGY GUISEEE! Hands down the most intriguing thing on the planet. I sat next to one of my good friend's boyfriend and a girl on my golf team and we were all like "Is this real life!??" And the things he was making them do was soo funny. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.

Also on Friday, I went to a golf team sleepover and it was so fun! I love all the girls on my team. Except there is one girl that never talks and acts like she's too good for everyone so she just sat on the couch and texted all night while we were all having the time of our lives. And another girl who no one really gets along with, but she didn't come. We watched bridesmaids and played fuse ball and air hockey and we were just laughing all night it was awesome.

Okay well that's enough for now. Miss you all and I've been trying to comment and shtuff when I can! My 4th hout usually leaves me ample opportunity to check streams because my work's always done or we just have free time for essay brainstorming hahah ;P

Birthplace: Modena, Italy

The Giovanni Scaletti was considered the best Hypercar of it's time, rivaling the beloved Murray R-1 from britian. Named after Scaletii Automobili's founder,it did well to the legend's name, by being the fastest, meanest, and even priciest car from Modena. The production only lasted a year, though, and no words of another hypercar were spoken of. Many rumors came about, like how alot of the racie cars were mearly study material for the next great to come out of Modena's hive. Then, around 2212, odd prototype supercars in camoflage were spotted just cruising around to town. Finally, at the 2212 Los Anglese Auto show, the next chapter in Scaletti's Automotive history was unveiled. The Scaletti S Calabrone came just on time to compete with anew slew a hypercars, Including the Yamato Saitama RS, Rogue XLR Blazefury, and the recent Murray R-X. The Calabrone, itialian for "Hornet" will have more than enough to fight this crowd off. Months of research in aerodynamics promise only the best, and advanced CPU systems will allow any putz the skill of a hardened F1 driver. The stinger of the new Hornet is a 6.5 L V12 producing 950 HP. 0-60 takes under 2 second, thanks to advanced uses of lightweight composites, and a top speed above 280 MPH. The Calabrone is one of the most anticipated cars of the time, and wowed all audiences at it's unveiling. The price will wow too, as it's expected to be in the millions. Just like most of the competition it faces today.

Albania

Tirana

Just one short day in Tirana before going home.

National Historical Museum was inaugurated on October 28, 1981. As the most important museum in Albania, National Historical Museum aims to provide knowledge and appreciation of Albania’s history to the local, national and international public. It also aims to encourage dialogue among citizens about the Albanian past, present and future. For this purpose, it preserves and studies material and immaterial evidence of Albania’s historical and cultural heritage, which are communicated and introduced in an environment that promotes education. It also organizes and enables activities that support its vision and mission. The building of National Historical Museum has a total area of 27,000 m2; it has an exhibition area of 18,000 m2 and a total volume of 81,000 m3. There are about 6,200 objects in the museum’s premises, which belong to a relatively long period of time, beginning back to the IV millennium BC until the second half of the 20th century. There are around 3100 exhibited objects. The rest of the objects are in funds. Currently, the National Historical Museum has seven pavilions: Antiquity, with 585 objects; The Middle Ages, with 217 objects; Iconography, with 90 objects (of which 70 are icons and 20 are liturgical church objects); National Renaissance, with 230 objects; Independence, with 142 objects and so on. A working group was dedicated to the design and content of the National Historical Museum, composed of the best specialists of museology, archaeology, history, ethnography, visual art and restoration. The working group is led by distinguished personalities, such as Gani Strazimiri, Koço Miho, Besim Daja, Skënder Luarasi, Valentina Pistoli, Sami Pashallari, Ilia Papanikolla, Robert Kota, Latif Lazimi, Guri Pani, Maksim Mitrojorgji, Magdalena Furxhiu, Odhise Paskali, Kristaq Rama, Shaban Hadëri, Foto Stamo, Fatmir Haxhiu, Guri Madhi, Ndreçi Plasari, Stefanaq Pollo, Kristo Frashëri, Selim Islami, Kleanthi Dede, Ballkize Haxhihyseni, Taqi Miho and many others. The National Historical Museum is a scientific research institution. In addition to the pavilions, the museum also has archive and laboratory environments, temporary exhibitions halls and conference rooms.

Hello everyone, I uploaded some brand new pictures from last weekend. It wasn't my first shoot of 2010 but it was the most spectaculair one. This location was on my list as nr. 1! Buried deep inside a big city, there's this well kept secret of an old veterinary school. We couldn't get in the first time and got caught but we did a revisit and ... See Morethis time we got lucky. Inside the manic building we found laboratary stuff, old medical books, ecyclopdias, neswpapers, books from 1955 and older... but also we found an enormous amount of dead animals all on formol, used as study material many many years ago... In the basement we found intestins all over, just standing on shelfs... These pictures are NOT for the faint hearted but for the Horror crew! Probably the weirdest location I ever did, probaly the weirdest location there is! check if you like, if not, skip this one! Enjoy :)

This fine painting by Carl Rottmann was only recently discovered. It is an outstanding example of his early work and documents his precocious talent. It is dateable to the beginning of his sojourn in Munich. The painting's title and dimensions make it clear that it is identical with the work exhibited at the Münchner Kunstverein in 1825 and listed as number 135. [An approximate English translation of the original 1825 title would be: A Multifaceted Mutable Landscape. A Farmer's Wife with her Child]. Rottmann experienced his first major public success at this exhibition. His Eibsee (Fig. 1)(1) was purchased by Leo von Klenze, Crown Prince Ludwig's star architect (Ludwig was crowned King of Bavaria in October of 1825). Contemporary art critics commenting on other Rottmann paintings in the exhibition were quick to recognize his prodigious talents: [...] in the ranks of very worthy masters for the first time, [Carl Rottmann is] an artist in whose works an entirely individual genius reigns which we would wish to call thoroughly poetic.

The present painting, seen in the context of Rottmann's oeuvre as a whole, documents the start of his mature period. It provides a foretaste of the distant worlds he was to capture in his later, Greek landscapes with their sinuous horizons. The painting also demonstrates Rottmann's debt to the heroic landscapes of J. A. Koch whose work he would have studied in Munich. The compositional structure of Rottmann's landscapes of the years 1822 to 1824 had been dominated by the juxtaposition of foreground and background. By introducing spatial order and a broad field of vision in the present landscape he counters the absence of spatial continuity noticeable in his earlier compositions. The emphasis on detail is striking. This probably reveals his indebtedness to the paintings of Ferdinand Olivier. Rottmann moved from Heidelberg to Munich in 1821 to further his career as a landscape painter. In the early years of his sojourn in Munich his preferred subjects were Bavarian motifs. In 1822 he went on the first of several study trips to the Werdenfelser Land, the Salzburg region and the Inn valley. He travelled to Italy and Sicily in 1826-7, returning to Italy in 1829 to seek motifs for the cycle of Italian frescoes Ludwig I had commissioned from him for the arcades on the west side of the Hofgarten in Munich. Rottmann produced twenty-eight frescoes for the cycle in the years 1830-4. He travelled to Greece, again commissioned by Ludwig I, to gather study material for his cycle of Greek landscapes in 1834-5. The landscape cycle is now in the collection of the Neue Pinakothek in Munich. Ludwig I appointed him court painter in 1841.

For the last four years our two children, William and Beth, have participated in Pathfinder Bible Achievement.

PBA is made up of four competitions. Your team of six players discusses each question among themselves and hands in their written answer to a judge. No answers are said out loud, so none of the teams know how they are doing in relation to the other teams (I should clarify that the correct answer is announced once all answers for a question have been handed in, but you don't know what the teams' answers were). There are varying numbers of teams at each event. At the end of the event the scores are added up and first place is awarded to each team that scores within 10% of the highest score. Theoretically every team could win a first place, although, sadly, I have never seen that happen. The first place teams proceed on to the next level of competition.

Today (2/9/08) was the first event for this year. It was at our local Area Level. Our team was one of two teams (out of nine) in our area to receive a first place, and so they will be proceeding to the Conference Level event next month. :)

After the Conference Level, there is the Union Level, and finally the North American Division Level. At the final NAD Level there are teams from Canada, United States and Mexico, and the questions are read in French, English and Spanish. Our team has won a first place two of the three times they have made it to the NAD. Last year they made second place at that level, which was disappointing but still an amazing accomplishment. Our team has never _not_ made it to the NAD Level, so they have a bit of pressure to keep up the good work.

Save Me [225/365] - After what has seemed like forever, I'm finally booked in to write my insurance exam. I've had tons of time to study and I should know the book from front to back. Am I ready? Heck no. Every time I try to study my mind wanders. If I'm not in front of the computer, I'm having a snack, going for a walk, or packing my room. I have sat in my empty bedroom with my study material and no distractions, which led to an unplanned nap. I try writing out notes, and I doodle on the paper. I'm absolutely hopeless. Somebody, help me!

Also... you'll think I'm crazy but if you are bored, please read my latest blog and give me your opinion.

George Orson Welles (May 6, 1915 – October 10, 1985) was an Academy Award-winning American director, writer, actor and producer for film, stage, radio and television. Welles first gained wide notoriety for his October 30, 1938 radio broadcast of H. G. Wells' The War of the Worlds. Adapted to sound like a contemporary news broadcast, it caused a number of listeners to panic. For above and more, see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orson_Welles

“In short, it’s necessary to become free concerning perceptions and feelings; neither to cling to them nor to reject them. Ultimately their presence in prayer depends on the teaching method of God. Sometimes the Lord grants perceptions and feelings to inspire us and help our weakness. Sometimes God takes them away to help us mature, purify our prayer, and grow in faith, hope, and love for God.” by Segundo Galilea in Temptation & Discernment (1996 ICS Publications, Institute of Carmelite Studies, Washington, D.C.) translated by Stephen-Joseph Ross, O.C.D. Once, many years ago there was a beautiful mask on me

I could feel the air, the cold November rain;

May be there were people who loved that face, the person under the face.

Then suddenly a long pause inside dark...........

..........Many years later, I found myself without that mask;

Now I'm a study material, which changes owner almost every year.

They say I dont have memory, may be I don't!

Time erased my feeling of touching cold breeze, the November rain.

Why does everything run away after that dark pause?

Why my wish to touch the November rain can never be possible??

I'm listing GNR's November rain all day long. May be that effected the wrting

The ascended masters of the Great White Brotherhood initiate earth’s evolutions in the God-consciousness of each of the hierarchies, as taught by Mother Mary to Mark and Elizabeth Prophet for sons and daughters of God returning to the Law of the One and their point of origin beyond the worlds of form and lesser causation. (Source: Elizabeth Clare Prophet, “Seminar on the Cosmic Clock: Charting the Cycles of Your Karma, Psychology and Spiritual Powers on the Cosmic Clock,” 2 audiocassettes and accompanying packet of study materials, available from the Summit Lighthouse website at www.thesummitlighthouse.org).

Cities also have divine blueprints with specific major monuments and buildings that are spiritual focuses and that correspond to the twelve lines of the cosmic clock. The following summary describes the monuments and buildings of the cosmic clock of Miss Liberty.

Ascended Master way is living inside the statue, and had been deep in meditation, practicing and preparing himself for the Ascension attempt, so he was not able to react in time to stop the killing blow, but upon sensing his brother’s imminent attack The Guardian of the Temple was able to pull his consciousness out of his physical body and into the Merkaba (light body) or crowded energy in the Crowne, human spirit had just been working on. He then simply followed Set while he disposed of the body and then guided his wife and sister to those places shortly after, who recovered his missing parts....Human was melting in the pot of genetically modified brain. Supernatural is today so far away and human forgetting the stairway to heaven , remember Jacobus Dream ( Songe de Jack)

It is no secret that, in many parts of the world, the dearest wishes of

childhood are considerably more existential than in other countries. To

contribute to providing survival basics for people in need, this year,

packaging expert SIG has decided once again to support a relief project

instead of giving business associates expensive Christmas gifts. The

company is helping the United Nations children's relief project, UNICEF,

with a Christmas donation of 80,000 EUR.

UNICEF's relief project in the Sudan is called Water is life. In the

Sudan, in the north-eastern corner of Africa, extreme water shortage is

a feature of everyday life for most people. More than half of the

country's rural population has no access to clean water. Recurrent

droughts cause the water supply system to collapse time and again. Many

children suffer from diarrhoea, worm infestations and inflammation of

the eyes - mostly caused by polluted water.

SIG's donation will be used in the Kordofan region, which is

particularly badly affected. UNICEF is building wells and sanitary

facilities in the region. With the help of the SIG donation, UNICEF will

be able to drill five wells, catering for 2,000 people, and equip them

with sturdy hand-pumps. "In addition, our donation will be used to equip

five schools with separate sanitary facilities for girls and boys, to

improve sanitation", says Dr Josef Collin, Head of Corporate Services at

SIG in Linnich, who has been personally involved with humanitarian aid

projects for many years. On a number of occasions, he has initiated

major projects on SIG's behalf, to support people in emergency in

cooperation with UNICEF, and has been on-site to report on the progress

of the projects. It was in this way, for example, that SIG supported

UNICEF's 'School in a box' project with a Christmas donation in 2003.

This donation provided study materials for 26,400 children in

Afghanistan.

"As an international group of companies, social responsibility is a

given for us. That's why we've been supporting various relief projects

around the world for years", says Rolf-Dieter Rademacher, CEO of SIG.

This is how the link with UNICEF was first established. UNICEF works

throughout the world to provide children with their basic needs for

survival. With regard to their ongoing development work, the

organisation mainly focuses on health, balanced nutrition, clean water,

education, HIV/AIDS and shelter. At the forefront of the relief work

activities are caring for AIDS orphans, and the fight against

mother-to-child transmission of the AIDS virus. In addition, UNICEF

works to support children affected by war, refugee children, child

soldiers, child labourers, and displaced and trafficked children, and

the organisation campaigns to reduce poverty.

The Netherlands

Loevestein Castle is a medieval water castle, built between 1357 and 1397 on a strategic location in the middle of the Netherlands, where rivers Maas and Waal come together. At first it was a simple square brick building, used to charge toll from trading vessels using the rivers. By 1372, the castle was under control of the Counts of Holland. Around 1575, by order of William the Silent, it was expanded to a larger fortress, surrounded by earthen fortifications with stone bastions on the northern side, two moats, an arsenal, and housing for a commander and soldiers.

It changed hands thrice between the Northern Dutch and the Spanish, during the Eighty Years' War.

From 1619 the castle became a prison for political prisoners. A famous inmate was the eminent lawyer, poet and politician Hugo de Groot (Hugo Grotius), often presented as the "father of modern international law", who was serving a controversially imposed life sentence. In 1621 he escaped from his prison in a book chest, that regularly contained his study material. When you visit Loevestein Castle, you are given a personal key so that you can discover the castle and its stories. Children are allowed to climb into Hugo's book chest themselves. "Rembrandt made this self portrait when he was fifty-five years old. On the left, beside his shoulder, he has signed his name and the year in which he made the painting: 1661. Rembrandt pictured himself in a total of about eighty paintings, etchings and drawings. He made most of these for himself as study material: to study a facial expression or to try out contrasts between light and shade. Sometimes he used himself as a 'model' representing someone else, as is the case here. He has pictured himself as a biblical character, the apostleApostleThe apostles are the twelve followers of Christ sent by him to spread the Gospel. The twelve apostles are SS Peter, Andrew, James the Greater, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the Less, Simon the Zealot, Thaddaeus and Judas Iscariot (after the latter's betrayal, he was replaced by Matthias). St Paul joined the original twelve after Jesus' death. The apostles are also known as the disciples (followers). This term is generally reserved for their acts during Jesus' lifetime, they are referred to as apostles in the period after his death.St Paul." "Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (* 15. Juli 1606 in Leiden; † 4.
