This is a picture of the Stuart Highway when we traveled from Alice Springs to Kings Canyon. As you can see it is just like a shot from Mad Max, barron and lonley but at the same time bright, vibrant and never ending.... just like our memorys of the trip.

Joe Earl Stuart was one of Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys and he also worked as a Foggy Mountain Boy with Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. He was multitalented and could play just about any instrument in any bluegrass band. He was a popular performer on the Grand Ole Opry. When he died in 1987 he last request was that Bill Monroe sing all 25 verses of "John Henry" at his funeral. Sure enough the Father of Bluegrass did just that. Joe Earl Stuart is resting in the Forest Lawn Memorial Garden in Goodlettsville, Tennessee.

An old shot of my friend Stuart climbing up the large mountain behind our house in Lantau Island, Hong Kong. This was long before they built the new airport, we lived in a sleepy little village that was a 20 minute hike from the ferry.
You can see the green creeping into the bottom of this shot where the film was damaged by the crazy heat.
