NS 12Z passes the CPLs at Stuarts Draft on a hot and muggy summer morning. Unfortunately, progress has been made in the slow signal replacement program along the Shenandoah Line, and replacements are standing here now a year later.

Posed street portrait taken for my 100 Strangers project in Glasgow, Scotland.
Stuart, a familiar face and inspirational man in Glasgow, and number 72 in my 100 Strangers project here on Flickr. This is the colour version of the original shot that I uploaded from my brief city centre shoot with Stuart. Head to my 100 Strangers album to read his story if you like. Proving that the affordable 40mm pancake lens can be good for portraits. Enjoy!

Stuart House is a Tudor town house where in 1644 Charles I stayed whilst he mustered his troops for his campaign in Cornwall. It now houses an exhibition about this time in the houses history, as well as being a thriving art and heritage gallery, with refreshments and a secret garden. - whichmuseum.com/museum/stuart-house-liskeard-3682

This is the site of the first snuff mill in the New England colonies.
The Stuart family lived here and operated the snuff mill for eleven years until 1761 when they moved to Newport.
Stuart was taking a bath and was interrupted by something he saw outside.
We are in my temporary bedroom as our remodeling is going slower than we thought. But it's going to be so nice when done.
I finally have gotten the hang of this laptop and found my cable so I could upload my photos from my camera. The only thing I'm missing is my good photo editor. It's not installed on this computer as I couldn't find the instillation disc.
Soft Pastel on Pastelmat paper.
This is the second time I have tried this picture and I think it is time to concede defeat. Apologies, Stuart - I seem to have given you a hideous birthmark on the side of your nose! :)

Bored as can be in the hotel room. Decided to build LtBrick's M5 Stuart. Always love a new Stuey. :) Pretty sure I got the top correct. The front end, not sure.
"Isn't this just amazing, Cleo?!" Stuart was very excited as he walked around and around the faerie home. "We should be very careful here. Don't break anything, and don't make scary noises, in case the faeries who live here are watching to see what kind of little bears we are!"
"I will be careful, Stuart! It almost looks like it grew here!" said Cleo.
"I think when it's possible, faeries do use natural things for homes, and if they build, they often use bark and moss and vines and . . . well, other natural kind of things." Stuart said, somewhat less confident.
"I think you must be right," said Cleo. And I bet they use flowers and other things, too, Stuart! You are so smart!"
"I'm not really sure about all of it, but I have seen pictures in books and read things. I think we should go home and tell Mama, Cleo. And we don't want to scare the faeries off, in case they are afraid of us."
"I think you are right, Stuart. Let's go. We can tell Mama what we found. Do you think the faeries would like us to visit?"
"Maybe, but we should wait for an invitation. I have read that they are very private."
"Okay, but I hope we can visit again when they are home!!" said Cleo.
Stuart took her by the hand and they headed home.

A panorama looking over the town of Ellensburg at the Stuart Range. Maybe next time I can get a day when the atmosphere is clear. There was a little smoke/haze in the air.

"The Garden of Vulcan" is a garden cabinet created by the British landscape architect Tom Stuart-Smith, in which the vegetation was supposed to organise itself after sowing seeds. Over the years, the plant carpet became increasingly lush. "First, plants grow that are flexible and adaptable. Later, trees grow and animals can live in their shade. The animals create a network of trails in the new, lush vegetation. Only then do huts appear.
English landscape architect Tom Stuart-Smith describes the vegetation and colonisation process of the earth. Of course, man could not take over the landscape without outside help: He was helped by the Roman god Vulcan, whose history provides the design concept of the garden. Immerse yourself in the world of mythical fire and experience an extraordinary abundance of flowers of all colours." This description, though greatly abridged by me, comes from the homepage of the Gardens of the World.

Here she is. It's funny, because I barely spent any time on this one, but I'm actually pretty happy with it. Definitely easier to build one in D Bley instead of tan. The part selection was liberating.
Also, quick (or not so, but do yourself a favour and read it) little side rant here because its been on my mind.
When you're building a vehicle out of LEGO that is intended to accurately replicate something that was built in real life (and therefore has an excess of reference photos available, wiki pages dedicated to it, etc) keep a few things in mind.
a) Know what you're actually building. Do some basic homework and understand the difference between an M3 Vs. M5 Stuart, late Jackson Vs. early Jackson, M4A1 Vs. M4A2, etc. Nobody expects anyone else here to be a war historian but I don't think it's asking too much for everyone to do a tiny bit of research instead of just lamely grabbing some techniques from Max, throwing some sort of gun on and calling it a 'Sherman'.
b) Dimensions: this is numero uno in my mind when it comes to the actual construction of these vehicles, yet my feed is constantly filled with vehicles that have proportions that are totally wrong, bogeys that are too large, tracks that are the wrong length and width, etc. Just basic things that if done wrong completely ruin a build.
c) Details: this does not mean some sweet over engineered flex tube basket stuck on the back to make up for an otherwise lackluster build, I mean looking at real photos of whatever you're working on and doing your best to actually recreate the details, or lack thereof, across all parts of the vehicle and within the limits of our medium. Ie if you're working on an M4A1(75) Sherman, include the damn VSS. Do yourself a favour, take your time and don't just throw some wheels on that you saw your favourite builder use on theirs and call it a day while leaving out one of the most important features of the tank.
Hope this helps somebody.
Cheers guys, Lincoln and I may or may not have something fun coming along if we can get our acts together but no promises right now.
Mount Stuart House on the east coast of the Isle of Bute, Scotland, is a Gothic Revival country house and the ancestral home of the Marquesses of Bute. It was designed by Sir Robert Rowand Anderson for the 3rd Marquess of Bute in the late 1870s, replacing an earlier house by Alexander McGill, which burnt down in 1877. The house is a Category A listed building.
The house is the seat of the Stuarts of Bute, derived from the hereditary office "Steward of Bute" held since 1157. The family are direct male-line descendants of John Stewart, the illegitimate son of King Robert II of Scotland, the first Stuart King, by his mistress, Moira Leitch. By virtue of this descent, they are also descendants of Robert the Bruce, whose daughter Marjorie was mother of Robert II by her marriage to Walter Stewart, 6th High Steward of Scotland.
