In late February 2021, the first batch of structural steel arrived for the Chen Family Lower School. Despite the frigid temperatures and muddy conditions, Shiel Sexton crews went right to work, using a crane to install support beams in the middle of the building, also known as Section B. (Section A is the south end, with the Daneri Family Lower School Gymnasium designated as Section C). Work begins on Section A next, followed by the installation of precast concrete wall panels for the gym in March. Its saddle roof is composed of eight segments of hyperbolic paraboloids, in such a fashion that the bottom horizontal cross section of the roof is a square and the top cross section is a cross.
In 2017, Architecture Digest named it one of the 10 most beautiful churches in the United States.
