A building near Towr Bridge.

Feather River, Plumas County, CA.

Today's shot id one of those cheating manmade shots, where what I really wanted to shoot was the sky, so I had to find something interesting and manmade to put in front of it. I chose some of the outdoor art outside the art museum for this purpose. I thought the colorful mosaic and the structural concrete elements complimented to colorful sky and structure in the clouds. The cool light rays where a bonus. A circular polarizer was used. 3 exposure HDR, processed in photomatix, then ran through a Velvia filterin Photoshop for strong color and to reintroduce some local contrast (HDRs by default are pretty flat straight out of the tonemapping). 1/320,1/80.1/20sec@f/8 ISO 100 FL:16mm

Some roof damage we noticed while driving by the side of the building today. According to housekeeping, it was already damaged prior to the earthquake.

31108 was in 1959 by Brush Traction Ltd in Loughborough. It served primarily in the Eastern Region of British Railways. Its mainline career ended on 5 June 1991 due to engine issues, and it was officially withdrawn from service on 27 September 1991. After spending over three years stored at Scunthorpe, it was acquired in early 1995 by A1A Locomotives Ltd in a non-running condition. A meticulous restoration followed, including a full mechanical rebuild, electrical repairs, and structural restoration. The locomotive was successfully restarted on 28 May 2000
