Jesus is stripped of his garments

The Salvation Army International Headquarters

Guler Ates, Sea of Colour, 2016

Güler Ates is best known for her photographs of mysterious figures in shimmering, diaphanous veils, drifting through opulent spaces. Here fabric takes a different form, drawn from donated and discarded children’s and baby clothes, too worn, damaged, or dirty to be used for charity. These castoff clothes offer a haunting reminder of children who have died—sometimes in their mothers’ arms—in journeys to escape conflict. Having suffered displacement from Eastern Turkey herself, the artist feels an acute empathy for refugees, and has created this work with the assistance of women from local refugee groups. In a new way, she returns to a question that emanates throughout her work: can we ever really know the person in front of us? Can we know their pain? Even when Jesus stood naked, stripped of his garments, who among the jeering crowds really knew what he felt?

Trying out a 13x63 gridded softbox

former cooling towers on Kokerei Zollverein in Essen

Three things on this:

1) There's always a guy named Jay working at a strip club.

2) It's both sad and rewarding just how few stripper stories I have based on being on earth for over 50 years.

3) Stripping in a pandemic seems wrong. This must have been in the before time...

Las Vegas Strip

High road in the Las Vegas Valley, Nevada

Lined with upscale casino hotels, the neon-soaked Strip is quintessential Las Vegas. As well as gambling floors, the vast hotel complexes house a variety of shops, restaurants (ranging from mainstream to high-end), and performance venues for music, comedy and circus-style acts. Attractions like the soaring, choreographed Fountains of Bellagio and the High Roller observation wheel draw crowds

3100 S. Kedzie (Building “D”)

Permit #100280220

Date received: 3/5/09

Address:

Ward: 22

Applicant: DMD Services, Inc.

Owner: Chicago Public Schools

Permit Description: Demolition and removal of four-story brick building “D” [damaged from fire]

Status: Under review

The old Washburne Trade School has been torn down bit by bit over several years. A permit request to demo the remaining structures was recently filed after a 4 alarm fire flared up inside one of the abandoned buildings. The remaining structure seems to be in good shape and the building could very likely be converted but at this point in time it is hard to see who would want to take on that type of project in the current economic environment.

Washburne's last days are quickly approaching.

Get a question wrong, take off a piece of clothing. You're out when you lose your hat. [062639]

I don't know who exactly invented this challenge, but it's perfect for me and my huge pile of scraps. This coaster is the first of the 100 projects using scraps only. I want to use as many of them as possible and fabric pieces smaller than a fat eight which I would otherwise cut into squares and strips.

Let's see how long it will take me to make 100 projects. Although I must confess the sheer number seems a bit intimidating, I'm convinced it will be fun.

Time consuming but pretty

Fuji PRO 800Z

Exposure: f/2.8 1/30

How to fluff a composition! I think I should have put the pole and sidewalk buttons slightly more to the right and had more lights in the left of the frame. Anyway, still like the shot enough to post it as the colors the Fuji Pro 800Z give are superb imo.

Enjoy your Monday :)

Future retail/office strip and Dunkin Donuts at Renaissance Square, Marlton NJ. This is the area where Burger King was.
