The water at DeKorte is still very high, but the nearby Clay Avenue Wetlands (behind the bus shelter, look to the left behind the trucks and trailers) has plenty of close birds. The greenish shadows in the foreground are Phragmites reeds, which provide a good blind for photography. Thanks to Jim Wright for this locality.
Note: This bird has Spirogyra, a stringy green alga, covering its legs.
Lighting in Grinders = not conducive to food photography, so sadly this is all you get. But just know that Pookie and I got a 12" pizza half Bengal Tiger and half Philly Cheese Steak and it was obscenely good. Especially the nacho cheese on the steak side. Oh, and the hearts of palm on the Bengal Tiger side? TO DIE FOR. Briney like and artichoke but without the stringiness. I could eat buckets of those things,
I love this little guy! His stringyness and the way his wings zoom out behind me all the time, like he's always set to take off. This duck is like a metaphor--just be ready to enjoy the ride!
This image comes from some parameters which consistently show, in preview, nicely solid forms, but the renderings are always stringy, as it the case here. It is also the case that many forms, particularly in the foreground, simply vanish in the rendering. This is the only satisfactory one of the several that I rendered. In this case we have an image of a lattice of factory like elements with the colors reduced. It is not unlike many of the comic books I once read. It is, therefore, designated as the workshop of Stan Lee, a cartoonist for DC comics. He drew, among others,, my favorite, the Silver Surfer, a comic book of unparallelled absurdity, beautifully drawn.

Ok, so I used my fathers camera today for a while, and have to say that I love his 75-300 lens. It can be used 200-300 in macro mode...:)

The light shining through the pumpkin flesh adds just the right note of stringiness to Carrah's demonic frog :-)

Chicken I don't know what, stringy string beans, chocolate cake that tasted like chalk, sad sack of salad, bun hard as hell, and some sushi. ohhh yeah.

Radishes, Cilantro, Quesilla, and... Thai Basil?? Trust me, it's GOOD! I always loved the way they give you a plateful of herbs when you goto a Vietnamese Restaurant, so why not here?
Guinea breast rubbed with olive oil, oregano and a bit of turmeric. Placed in baking dish, added 1 cup water, tented with foil. Bake in 425 degree oven 25 minutes. Let rest on counter 15 additional minutes to finish cooking (if coked at high heat too long it will become very stringy).

Photo CRW_6963: Stringy Bark trunk along the Brisies water race bush walk. One of the good things about bush walking in Tasmania are the big old trees.
These are Gourds (pepos) of the vine, Cucurbita palmata, the Coyote Gourd. The Cucurbitaceae produce a modified kind of Berry called a Pepo. Pepos have a skin-like exocarp, a leathery mesocarp, and a fleshy or stringy endocarp.

We went to the Cheyenne Botanical Garden this morning and shot pics with LensBaby Composer (Mark used my LensBaby 2.0).

This place did great food including unusual stuff like jaggery (yellow lumps of boiled sugar) and stringy, bitter 'desert beans'. The family liked to hover round and direct our eating (breaking up our bread and poppadoms for us and putting them in the curry, and rearranging our thali dishes in the middle of the meal because we were making a mess). The head of the family was a Bishnoi elder and didn't speak English (true of most people at this place) so he liked to direct our meals with the cook interpreting. Interesting, but doesn't make for a relaxing meal, especially when you have hayfever and blowing your nose isn't really acceptable practice to the people around you. Despite sticking to the traditional way of life they're by no means isolated though and do have internet and apparently a TV in this place - the young lad who did most of the practical stuff was well up on world politics and was very well educated too.
