My Vanellope Von Schweetz Talking 11'' Doll has been completely deboxed. She is free standing, and is photographed from various angles.
She is an accurate representation of one of the main characters of the newly released Disney animated feature Wreck-it Ralph. She is the ''Glitch'' of the Sugar Rush video arcade game, one of bunch of young girls competing to win a race in confectionery go karts. She speaks several phrases from the movie when her mid-section is pressed, in the voice of Sarah Silverman. The sound is loud and clear.
She is full poseable, with moveable head, arms and legs. Her head can swivel around 360 degrees, but cannot tilt up or down. She has fully articulated shoulder, elbow and wrist joints, so her short arms are surprisingly poseable. She only has four fingers in of her rather large hands. She has no knee or ankle joints, and no toes on her flat stumpy feet. She is fairly stable free standing, but her loose hip joints and very heavy head make her topple over with just a light nudge. She cannot sit down on her own without support from behind, because her legs don’t quite bend 90 degrees, and her head is very heavy and unbalanced towards the back.
She has a very large head for an 11’’ doll, which matches her movie character. She has very large bright brown eyes, glancing to her right. She has thick black eyebrows, and short thin eyelashes over each eye. She has a small button nose that is colored the same bright pink color as her lips. Her mouth has thin lips forming a toothy smile. She has protruding big round ears.
Her long straight jet black hair is in a pony tail that has been bunched up at the top of her head, and tied with a red licorice ribbon. There are two candy covered hairpins in either side of her head. There are two long bangs on the right side of her head, and two short pig tails over her ears. There is a lot of hair product used to keep her bangs and pony tail bun in place. Otherwise, her hair is soft and smooth.
Her outfit is entirely removable. She has a blue-green hooded sweater that is covered in glitter, and has two non-functioning pink drawstrings in the front. She has a short pleated dark brown skirt, over blue-green and white striped stretch pants. Finally she has black flat-heeled shoes, with a swirling pink stringy pattern on their soles.

These are some of my first prints after getting the printer assembled. The model is the 5mm Stepped Calibration Cube. This thing is not good for fine tuning your printer settings, but when you are starting from scratch, it will give you a rough indication of all the ways your printer is miscalibrated. You can't see them in this picture, but there are two bridge sections to test short gap bridging.
I had no way of knowing this at the time, but the way these failed is indicative of what's wrong. Both cubes are way too large, about 8mm a step when they should be 5. This was my first indication that the X and Y axes needed to be calibrated, besides all the guides on the internet saying so. The stringiness of the left print indicates that it's printing TOO HOT and TOO FAST. It also had poor layer adhesion, as those bits at the bottom sheared off of the stepped cube when I tried to take it off the bed. There is also some unevenness in the bottom layer indicating an unlevel bed.
The right cube shows that I'm extruding too much plastic, but also some Y-axis belt slippage; its all slanty. How do I know it's the Y-axis? Because I noted that before I popped it off the bed. Everything is leaning along the Y axis, so the belt was coming unaligned. Part of the problem was that the print head was sent to move at 120mm for travel moves, which was fast enough to cause the belt to slip. Secondly, the belt wasn't tight enough. Thirdly, that axis gave us no end of shit for MONTHS.
Seriously, Y-axis. Why can't you be nice like X and Z. X is your twin brother and he's never needed anything but a bit of calibration. And Z, he never even needed that! He's always been perfect. Not like you.

Also known as salsify, goat's beard. This one is more stringy and tougher than the similar but cultivated cousins "Oyster plant", "Jersusalem star".
To me it is like a big dandelion.
This is a useful plant to know:

I give you celery, the underrated vegetable. Used by dieters reluctantly everywhere, it fills you up without fattening you up. But wait there's more! Celery has nutritional value! Celery is a good source of Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, fibre (it's the stringy bits), Vitamin A, and Vitamin C.
As a kid we had it with Cheese Whiz slathered in the centre. My Mom's idea of a special salad at holiday dinners. Yeah, I grew up in the 1950s. I love celery, it's crunchy and slightly sweet, even without the Cheese Whiz.

My dad had me take a pic as he measured the latest haul of string beans from our backyard garden. For the past 3 years, he's been using only compost instead of store-bought fertilizer. I think it makes the veggies taste even better when they are ripe!

Chatham is in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. The house being overcome with vines is wood with a tin roof. Not much else is visible except this portion of the building. I don't know the current status of the structure. Update: as of early December 2018, the vines are still smothering whatever building is beneath.

I watched as this heron swallowed something long, dark, stringy, and really ugly. I've spared you the regurgitation that followed!
I was craving for lo mein, but I didn't have any lo mein noodles... So, I end up using lasagna noodles. I boiled and cut them into long strips. The stringy thingy poking out of the pork meatballs are glass noodles (aka Chinese vermicelli), which were made by my mom. It was leftover from the stuffing she used for caramelized stuffed bittermelon soup.
A strawberry muffin coated with a crumbly topping. These are really soft, moist muffins, and the topping lends a beautiful crunch to them. I used frozen strawberries and noticed that the color of the strawberries faded to a really pale pink after baking and became a little stringy - as you can see in this photo. I wonder if fresh strawberries would make a difference?
This is a beautiful cold hardy palm that is very easy to grow. It is also drought tolerant, inexpensive and readily available at nurseries and discount stores. Like many palms, the pindo produces an elaborate flowering structure called an inflorescence - the orange fruit forms on these structures after the female flowers have been pollinated. In the deep south, a jelly is made from these fruits. They have a terrific taste that starts out like apple and tranforms to tart tropical flavors as it tantalizes the tongue. Too bad the fruit has a large seed and stringy fibrous flesh or I would eat them by the handful!
This palm produces a large quantity of fruit, which can be a nuisance, as ripening fruit attracts wasps and other insects. Remove flower stalks to avoid messy cleanups.

Ingredients
- 4 cups tightly packed, from about 5 bunches, parsley leaves
- 1 cup tightly packed, from 2 bunches, mint leaves
- 3/4 cup good olive oil, plus more for the pan
- 2 cups plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 2 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt
- (1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 4 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 2/3 cups sugar
Directions
1. To make the herb-oil mixture, put a fourth of the parsley and mint in a strong blender or food processor, and blend it on low speed. Use a blender stick to help crush the herbs while the blade is spinning (or stop the machine from time to time to push the herbs back down toward the blade). Slowly increase the speed to medium (or a steady puree, in a food processor) and continue adding the rest of the herbs until you have added all of them.
2. In a steady stream, add half of the olive oil. Mix on medium-low speed (or pulsing, if using a food processor) until all is combined. Add the remaining olive oil and blend for no longer than 10 seconds. The mixture will look loose and stringy. Scrape out the blender to get all of the parsley mixture, transfer it to a bowl, and refrigerate until ready to use.
3. In a bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, and baking powder and set aside.
4. In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, whip the eggs for about 30 seconds. Add the sugar and mix on high speed until the mixture is very thick and turns a pale yellow color, about 3 minutes. Turn the mixer speed down to low and add the herb-oil mixture.
5. With the machine still running, add the flour mixture and mix until just combined. Do not over mix. Pour the batter into a container and refrigerate it for at least 6 and up to 24 hours (the cake will turn out much greener than it would if you baked it right away).
6. When you're ready to bake, preheat the oven to 340°F and lightly oil a sheet pan -- ideally a 13- x 18-inch for a thin cake but 11 3/4- x 16 1/2-inch will work with a slightly longer baking time (at Food52, we used a 10- x 15-inch jelly roll pan). Line the bottom of the pan with parchment paper and lightly oil the paper. Pour the batter into the sheet pan and smooth out the top with a spatula.
7. Bake for 12 to 18 minutes, rotating the cake halfway through. If the top begins to brown before the inside of the cake is done, turn the heat down to 330° and let it cook a couple of minutes longer. When a cake tester inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean, it's done. Let it cool in the pan.
8. To serve, tear serving-size squares of cake into a few larger pieces and divide them among individual plates. If desired, serve with vanilla ice cream and lemon zest. Alternately, eat warm with butter for breakfast.

He is made of polymer clay and painted with acrylic paint. He is holding a tiny ring in his hands and wears a loin cloths made of cheese clothes. He has sharp teeth and long finger- and toenails. His hair is dirty and stringy.
The figure is 3,5 inches/9 cm in his sitting position.
What is a habitat tree?
Habitat trees are trees that are retained in urban parks, on non suburban road verges and the medians of main roads, and fringe areas adjoining hilltop reserves, urban parks and the urban edge. Habitat trees are created by retaining mature trees that have died or need to be pruned heavily, and cutting over the main branches to leave a 'totem' with exposed hollows to provide habitat for birds and animals. There are generally six main Eucalyptus species that are used for habitat trees because they are relatively rot resistant and resilient to the effects of the weather and aging. These trees are Eucalyptus melliodora (Yellow box), Eucalyptus polyanthemos (Red box), Eucalyptus bridgesiana (Apple box), Eucalyptus rossii (Scribbly gum), Eucalyptus mannifera (Red spotted gum) and Eucalyptus macrorhyncha (Stringy bark). More than 100 habitat trees have been retained within the urban area during the past 20 years.

This plant flowers every winter and this is the first time it's thrown a bloom when the light is peaking and the temperatures are warming. The flower stalk emerges and drips a sticky sap before the stringy flowers open and fill the house with a sweet fragrance. The flowers are short lived and the whole stalk will be finished blooming in a week, after which it gets cut out.

The spidery goodness ended up looking a lot like last years octopeep, so I pulled it. The web itself has been abandoned, leaving one lone fly stuck up there. It ended up looking a little better when left sort of stringy and abandoned rather than pulled taut. (When it was taut, the spider really looked missing.)
This macro photo shows the amazing red yucca plant in full bloom now in Arizona. This plant is used frequently in landscape plantings all over Phoenix. At this time of year, the city streets are softened and brightened with streamers of pink and peach colors as the yucca plant sends forth long stalks filled with tiny pink buds and blooms.
This plant looks like a stringy cluster of thin green fronds radiating from the center mound, most of the year. In April and May they burst forth in such beauty! Here is a link to a fine informational page with photos taken in Glendale in 2005:
When I first purchased Avery and Sophina from Amazon back in 2014, I was truly appalled by the condition of their hair when I first pulled them out of their box. I've witnessed many dolls with terrible hair when they first appear out of their packages, but Avery and Sophina were definitely among some of the worst! What was so nasty about Avery's hair was the fact that it was almost greasy and stringy looking, while at the same time looking matted and frizzy! This photograph really does not convey just how despicable Avery's hair was when I initially took her out of the box. It looks so much more mild and tame here, than it was in person. I remember that her hair was pretty difficult to comb through, even when it was loaded with oodles of conditioner! I cannot possibly imagine any child knowing how to deal with this hair. In fact, without the flat iron treatment, I'm not sure there is much that could be done for a doll like Avery!

After twelve days at the hotel where Eunie has been staying, eating every meal consisting of pretty much the same stir-frys and curries every day, she was ready for a gastronomic break. I told her yesterday, when I came back from the Nadi Temple, that there was a MacDonald’s somewhere back in the direction of town. So, at about noon, we started the long walk in the quest of the undisputed king of junk food.
It turned out to be a bit farther than I remembered, possibly a couple of miles. Eunie never slowed down or looked back. The call of the Big Mac was shrieking raucously in her ears:
When in North America we never eat so foolishly. Our idea of junk food in Indianapolis is to go to Arnie’s Bar and Restaurant and get a single order, which we share, of gigantic mushroom caps filled with a nice Italian tomato sauce and topped with Romano cheese. In Canada we call big, steaming bowls of onion soup junk food. Hmmm . . . stringy cheese . . .

I have to admit that Eunie and I have a sort of death pact between us. Everywhere we go in the world, and that list is ramping up quite nicely, we seek out a MacDonalds and force ourselves to eat a Big Mac. Eunie actually claims to like one once in a while. I can hardly choke it down.

There are two candy covered hairpins in either side of her head. There are two long bangs on the right side of her head, and two short pig tails over her ears. There is a lot of hair product used to keep her bangs and pony tail bun in place. Otherwise, her hair is soft and smooth.
Her outfit is entirely removable. She has a blue-green hooded sweater that is covered in glitter, and has two non-functioning pink drawstrings in the front. She has a short pleated dark brown skirt, over blue-green and white striped stretch pants. Finally she has black flat-heeled shoes, with a swirling pink stringy pattern on their soles.
