Two years ago we joined the Ukelele club in La Veta. The goal is to learn enough chords to play Happy Birthday and Old MacDonald so that we can play in the annual July 4th parade!
We are a laid back group to be sure!! Most of us just strum any old way and sing extra loud!!
I had a chance to visit Kamimoto Strings in San Jose's Japantown yesterday. One of the interns on the Web team at SCU works there part-time. She showed the owners my portfolio and they were curious about how I might shoot their shop. I spent about an hour shooting around the shop with the TtV rig, the Lensbaby Composer/Sweet 35 combo, the GF1 and Pinwide, and the E-PL3 with the Oly 17mm 2.8 and Panny 7-14mm f4. I took a few iPhone shots, too. They were pretty busy, and I tried not to get in the way, but I think I captured the essence of their business...
I was on a hand held camera so there was no chance to get a still shot of the performance- though the camera work from all 5 of us was stellar.
Here, the bottom half of the Bella Electric Strings.

A beautiful Yamaha grand piano, in the School of Music building at the University of Washington, in Seattle.
Had to try this pattern. I have been doing scrappy quilts much against the plan it all out style of the past. And finding it not only productive but freeing. Cut various widths, throw strips in a bag and pull them out without over thinking and stitched them to phone book paper foundations. Wanted to do black and grey for a manly quilt but needed to add the teal for my own happiness while working with them.

I really want to become better at guitar but I can't find the motivation.. its such a beautiful instrument.
I also may need new strings soon, you can see them wearing out.
Need a more powerful lense argh!

This is a performance of music school students who named themselves SCAF Strings Quartet, derived from their own initials: Stefanie and Celine on violins, Akira on viola and Fariz on cello.
