First challenge of our photography training group: "Take a picture of an object, that is uncommon to the average apartment."
This is a Superstringer S70 badminton stringing machine. Whereas badmintonrackets or shuttles might not be that uncommon of an object to the regular flat, I think stringing machines are quite a rare spot. I have no special portrait or indoor photo equipment, so I used a black yoga mat as background and a small Ikea reading light as lighting source. I was quite surprised that it worked out pretty good.

The first i new of this nest of baby spiders was when i opened the lid of one of my wheely bins. They were suspended between two of the wheely bins and suddenly there was mayhem. I closed the bin and thought they would disperse, but on returning an hour or so later they had rebult their nest.
It's measuring about 3ft x 3ft now :) It's getting harder to work on as each side is now taking longer than the average Declan nap, so I'm having to break it up a lot more.

This is an attempt at capturing motion blur. I used my 12 string Gibson guitar for this experiment. This is a first pass at processing an image from the series I shot. I also did a BW of a different frame.
Completely irrelevant is that today is 100 years from the day Albert Einstein published his first paper on relativity. The following is from scientist Michio Kaku's website.
What is physics? Physics is nothing but the laws of harmony that you can write on vibrating strings. What is chemistry? Chemistry is nothing but the melodies you can play on interacting vibrating strings. What is the universe? The universe is a symphony of vibrating strings. And then what is the mind of God that Albert Einstein eloquently wrote about for the last 30 years of his life? We now, for the first time in history have a candidate for the mind of God. It is, cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.
I'm just being silly, applying a texture I created to the background of a photo of my wife, Janice. She loves working with yarn or string in creative ways. Now, multiple sclerosis has lessened her coordination, so she can no longer do tatting, but her younger self would occasionally make lacy doilies.
I tried to get an action shot of Moo today catching string, I got some awesome shots with her mouth wide open and the daftest of expressions, but unusable images it was just too dark today to be able to get a fast enough shutter speed...I could have braved the cold and gone outside but I didn't, I'm a wimp when it comes to the cold, I'll just have to wait for a brighter day and try again, this is the best I got.

Achinga Payar (String Beans or Chowli in Hindi) Thoran - (Dry Curry) is normally used as a side dish along with cooked rice. A favorite dish for bachelors as it consumes very less time for the preparation.
This lady is extracting the beans to be sold separately.
Early morning on String Lake. Later in the day these logs are where the Heron from a previous(and future) posts was hanging out.

I took the challenge literally and dug out my big spool of string. I have been working on this spool for about 10 years and at the rate it is going down, I will be able to bequeath it to a family member when I die. It is actually a spool from a carpet mill that used to operate in Collingwood, ON. It is so strong that despite it being quite thin, it cannot be broken using your hands.

Finaly a good day to take some photo's of this finished string quilt! What a beautiful morning with some frost, hoping for many more to come this winter! I finished this quilt in the last week of 2011 and finished the binding this week. I am very happy with the fabric choice, for a long time I was't happy with the fact that I bought the Hope Valley, did'nt know what to do with it. Until I saw this quilt made out of it www.flickr.com/photos/39332868@N06/5897170598/in/set-7215... It was just perfect for it! Thanks so much Angela for the idea!

“God, I hate selling things on Gumtree and Craigslist,” sighed Fuen.
“What are ya selling?” asked Bug.
“Broken puppet,” replied Fuen.
“Oh aye,” said Bug, “no strings attached?”
