On the home stretch to Peabody Mine in Kayenta, the BMLP Coal shuttle rounds an S curve along US 160 during its last few days of operation earlier this year.
Together with previous shot (www.flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/40462736603/in/datepo...), they were taken just before reaching the top. Here I used my ultrawide lens to portrait the first mountains on the right that formed the end of this part of the isle. Another breathtaking view, before a real 360 degrees view all around!
The great blue herons look so interesting in flight with those long bodies and outstretched necks.

The final stretch of track that leads us back to the car park at the Freycinet National Park. The sun is getting lower now, the shadows longer. Soon it will be dark and I'm anxious to make it back to Coles Bay to get some sunset shots. But I've been up since 4am with those pre-dawn shots, and the 13.5 kilometres walk and photo shoot has been tiring.
The strange tree (or is that creature?) in front of us has been given a little makeover by some hikers. That won't please the rangers. Actually this is a Tasmanian Grass-tree (Xanthorrhoea australis). There are 66 species and it is only found in Australia. The Bush Heritage Trust has a wonderful lot of information about it.
One more stretch of the wings before tiake off. This time of year the Brown Pelicans hang out alot in this area. It must be rich in food and offer them the protextion they need on the Bird Island I often take photos of.

Gorgeous Sunrise over Mont Saint Michel, Normandy, France
Well, I don't mind admitting that I was not expecting any sort of colour in the sky over Saint Michel when I visited one morning last week, partly because the sun rises over my right shoulder but alas, having arrived to find nobody in-situ, I quickly set up and waited.
The clouds started rolling by as the sun rose and within half an hour or so, the colour started to build. I was absolutely delighted I can tell you and even more so because this interesting and photogenic stretch of land before me while it looks like a tidal river, is in fact rain water that has filled this wonderful shallow gully.
It had rained quite a lot recently according to the locals and this provided me with a fantastic opportunity to capture water that makes an amazing lead in line. I was certainly blessed this morning for sure and with grey skies predicted for the rest of the week (which turned out to be partly true), it might have been great timing.
Have a great day/evening everyone 😁
