Our staff photographer Casey Thomason says: "Ya'll c'mon out to Spencer, see these Streamliners, along with 20 of their closest friends!"
There's only one day now until the N.C. Transportation Museum will be hosting the largest gathering of historical streamlined locomotives to ever take place. Visit www.nctrans.org for all the details. Hope to see everyone there!

A relic I chanced upon. 1954 W Nikkor C 1:4 f=2.5cm on A7C. No post processing, custom Picture Profile in camera, full manual.
Southern Shorthaul Railroad’s (SSR) CLF1, 869 & 48s36 (with 48s35 & 48s28 on the other end of the train) sit stabled in the yard at Bethungra. The train was loaded with ballast earlier in the day, and would depart in a couple of days to discharge near Demondrille as part of the ARTC ballasting program. This photo was an 2 minute 30 second exposure using a street light and a passing trains’ headlight to illuminate the CLF. The passing train was QUBE’s 3112 Junee to Cooks River container service with locomotives CF4402, CF4404 & QBX005. 2247hours, Thursday, 22nd April 2021.
While arguably not as stylish, I have always been attracted to the 'ruggedly handsome good looks' of the various ALCo cab units, especially the DL500B 'World' model.
There were several DL500b representatives at Streamliners 2016, including 4490 from the NSW Rail Transport Museum and QUBE owned (though inactive) 4477 which carries the colours of former owner CFCL Australia.

VIA Rail Canada train No. 2 left Wainwright, Sask., 1:20 behind the 8-ball, but has made up time as the sun has risen on western Saskatchewan. With fast track and few freight delays, it'll arrive at its next stop of Biggar just a few minutes late. The train is now sprinting through the early morning light near Landis with 22 lightweight stainless-steel cars in tow. This transcontinental passenger train is truly the last of the postwar streamliners to be found outside of a museum grounds.

During a night photo test session for the upcoming "Streamliners" event, four of N.C. Transportation Museum "star" diesels pose outside the Bob Julian Roundhouse on a very pleasant Spring evening. Be sure to visit www.nctrans.org for the latest updates on the Streamliners event, and make plans to be in North Carolina on May 29-June 1. Hope to see you there!
One of the most amazing sights to grace South Australian Rails for quite a few years was the appearance of Southern Shorthaul Railroad's vintage bulldogs S317/GM27/GM10/S302, seen near Nectar Brook, on a wagon transfer from Port Augusta to New South Wales.
All four locos were in attendance at Streamliners 2016 in Goulburn, NSW just four weeks previous.
S317 and S302 are former Victorian Railway S class units while GM10 and GM27 were originally built for the Commonwealth railways. All are Clyde/EMD six-motor products with 567C donks, except GM10 which is only a four-motor unit with a 567BC.

Another view of a black winged stilt who was intent on dive-bombing me .... its kiddies were nearby! I like the wing detail on this image.
