The lineup of streamlined diesel electric locomotives around the turntable at Goulburn Roundhouse during Streamliners 2016

The second edition of the Australian streamliner locomotive show is happening in Goulburn NSW over the long weekend in October.

Streamliners, some dating back 70 years and still in revenue work, from three Australian states are represented.

Test run by Sam Wheeler in his streamliner without the canopy.

It is a 2-wheeler, so it needs some speed to stay upright.

Scanned photo I took. This was before it was painted Kawasaki Green.

Team had mechanical problems that kept him from doing a full run.

There were curves all over this beautiful apartment complex, but my photos couldn't do them justice.

Whilst the streamlining applied by Gresley was done with much care and wind tunnel testing, the LMS attempt was pure publicity. Stanier wasn't even a fan! 6229 'Duchess of Hamilton', one of the second build of 'Princess Coronation' class locomotives that had been built for a new Coronation train, was rolled out of Crewe in 1938.

I think the window at the top used to be set back between curved walls which mirrored the doorway. And stop painting glazed tile! It looks like shit!

On their honeymoon last June/July, our daughter took this photo in Italy thinking I'd like the streamline design and she was right!

6229 'Duchess of Hamilton' was re streamlined by Tyseley works in 2009. It is compared here to a Chrysler Airflow car, build by Chrysler between 1934 and 1937. I think this one is a 1935 model, as it doesn't have the startling original waterfall grille of the 1934 card. Designed for Chrysler by their Carl Breer, who was fascinated by how forms are affected by their environment. Unfortunately, the general American public weren't quite so fascinated, nor were they interested in the all steel body or better handling it offered.

In contrast the Princess Coronation class were a huge success for the LMS and its designer William Stanier, apart from the streamlining which had gone from 6220 by December 1947.

One of the most amazing pieces of bridge architecture I've ever seen...it was pouring rain.

I saw Lost America's recent photo of this and it reminded me I also had one.
