C&NW 411 (F7A) and CB&Q 9911A (E5) caught my eye (!) on the drive to work this morning. Here they sit in the Proviso yard in Melrose Park, this was shot from the Mannheim Rd. overpass. Even with the light all wrong they still look really right.

Streamlined art deco van. This design is a slightly modified version of Flickr user snaillad's van, which you can find in his photostream. I wanted to do a different colour and add a more rounded rear - and I think I achieved the last part quite nicely. First created in MLCad, then built with real bricks.
Designed by Rue, Berlowitz & Commander and built in 1948, this beautiful and recently remodeled 3,800sf home in Nichols Hills on a huge corner lot is for sale -- for over $825,000. Haven't seen it yet, but it's on my list of things to do. Looks very cool!

One of Hull's distinctive white phone boxes can be seen behind it.

Built 1938 as an economy version of the bogie streamliners, 245 was one of a 100 strong class built at the Corporations Edge Lane works on EMB 9' Flexible Axle trucks and 60hp BTH motors. The controllers were reconditioned ones from scrapped Bellamy cars fitted with the addition of EMB brake interlock boxes. The cars ran well on street track but could be quite alarming on the softer foundations and higher speeds of Liverpool's extensive reserved tracks. Not as well appointed or as fast as their bigger sisters, their economy of operation however meant they survived to the end of tramway operation in 1957.
