or most likely a 1974-76 Chrysler Valiant Lancer (LA series), as the Lancer was initially sold under the Chrysler name in Australia rather than Mitsubishi.
The original badging on the trunk lid is gone, and appears to have been replaced with badges of late 80's or early 90's vintage.
Approximately 11,800 Chrysler Valiant Lancers were sold between 1974 and 1980. The GL was the top model. A 1.4 litre four cylinder engine rated at 92hp was the only engine available, with a four speed manual or three speed auto as an option.

An edit of a photo I took in the fall of 2006. Continuing to try out Pixelstyle Photo Editor. I used the artistic "Cartoon" artistic filter and adjusted the settings until I got something I liked. An edit of a photo I took in the summer of 2006 with my then-new Canon EOS 30D DSLR and its "better" kit lens, the EF-S 17-85mm F/4-5.6 IS USM. This was my first second go with Pixelstyle Photo Editor. I used the artistic "Cartoon" artistic filter and adjusted the settings until I got something I liked. The app is neat and free(!) but it definitely updates the preview image sluggishly. One cannot have everything.
