Just imagine for a moment the countless trillions of shells that must have been laid down in layers to form the chalk strata of this imposing headland...
This pano shot is taken from a similar location to the last one showing the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. The chalk boulders you can see in the forground of the other oneare visible here at the end of this chalk headland. And, although the rope bridge itself is hidden behind the headland, the island is still visible - as are those intrepid souls who braved the swinging rope bridge and who are now exploring the top of the island.
Feel free to zoom in and explore the detail of the strata on the chalk headland - and see how many people you can count on the island itself!

I remember thinking this wall would make a great piece of contemporary art. I actually have added an extensive discussion of this at my blog

Aerial photo. Strong shadows ooze and drip over the canyon walls. Somewhere over Arizona (?). Description of what some of these geologic layers might be: www.arizonaruins.com/sedona/sedona_geology.html.
Taken on the western side of Jeju Island, South Korea. I like to call this the Antelope Canyon of Korea. Not quite as dramatic and colorful as that famous place of course, but the area has some outstanding rock formations and textures.
The light was a bit flat here as the day was overcast. I plan to visit again and see what the area is like from sunrise to about 10 am or so as it faces southeast which might make for some interesting colors and light.

Strata, Elephant and Castle, seen from a 133 bus. I rather like this building. I keep catching sight of it in the distance when travelling around London (I think, actually, it is much nicer seen from a distance than close up). I was interested to learn that it is almost completely residential, and now the tallest residential building in London.

The Strata SE1
Height: 147m
Architect: BFLS
Located in elephant and castle London. Its one of the first buildings in the world to incorporate Wind turbines. That sadly dident work often and made to much noise and vibrations for the upper floors.
