This is the first shot I got the other week, but I had to move for shelter as the wind was blowing in hard, felt like I was being sand blastered. And then the rain came too. This was taken at Frankston pier about half an hour before sunset.
Silo lights are pink in support of the Breast Cancer Awareness week in Australia. Well done Viterra!!!
I suppose the question is why would you walk along the prom on a day like this. Apart from getting soaking wet as he had a normal jacket and jeans on there is the danger of debris being thrown up. I think he had a hangover and wanted to clear his head.😊
Storm Clouds strong winds and rain along with the clouds and still here today, North Carolina weather.
I went outside after an unusually heavy afternoon rain in Fort Myers, Florida, and saw this. It was like a promise that the rain would always pass letting the light return!
During a severe storm this tree was uprooted and fell across the street. Two cars were buried underneath the tree. Fortunately noone was injured.
Here's something a bit different as the last image of my storm chasing series. On this day (day 5 of the trip), this storm produced some great lightning, but it was this image, taken long after dark, with a little bit of structure visible each time the lightning flashed, that I liked best. I doubt this will be many people's favourite, but I like it a lot.
Thanks to everyone who has faved and, especially, who has commented on the 10 storm chasing images I've published. It has really meant a lot to me. Thanks, too, most of all to Mike Olbinski, storm chaser extraordinaire, who made it all happen!
If you'd like see more images I took while storm chasing, both this year and last year, take a look at my Storm Chasing album.
What a great way to start off the day!
I began photographing at 5:15am right when things were just starting to get rocking. The sunrise colors were some of the craziest I have ever seen and the lightning was abundant. Loud thunder, strong winds, a rainbow, and huge raindrops were all part of the show too.

I learn the most from my epic fails. This was my first time playing the storm chaser. I watched the forecast all weekend and saw that a strong thunderstorm line would be crossing past the Jersey shore. What I didn't account for was that even though I was under a paviliion, the wind and rain blasted me and the gear so suddenly that I had to sit down on top of my stuff so it wouldn't blow away. Those cement benches on the boardwalk were sliding right past me. I didn't get even one shot because I was terrified I would be flung off the boardwalk. Later I heard that there were 70 mph wind gusts that tore off a nearby motel roof and they were investigating for a small tornado. So I did some research on the proper way to storm chase. Liberty Hill, Texas. Storm developed very quickly and I was positioned in front of its path, like an idiot. Worth it for this shot though. Quite spectacular!
Storm Claudio rages outside as I speak. Gales laden with waves of horizontally flying water. I wonder how the world will look in the grey dawn light. I predict there will be plenty snow on the mountain tops in this area by the morning. The windchill temperature is forecast to be around -12 deg C tonight on the tops.
Sono tornati i temporali della sera... alle volte spaventosi, alle volte affascinanti :)
Buona giornata
