This shabby, neglected building was formerly a knitting shop & then the famous Marley's Olde Time Ice Cream Parlor. It was recently gutted & lovingly renovated as charming, engergy efficient upscale apartments & and a professional office
In December 2009, the New York City council voted to ban the metal curtains that have served as security for commercial businesses and canvases for graffiti artists. The councilmembers argued that the roll-down gates were a blight on neighborhoods.

Blight or art? The ban doesn't fully take place until 2026. Until then, this group is dedicated to showing the beauty and ugliness that will be lost once the gates are gone.

The Patron "Simply Perfect" Art Project - Chicago is organized around a storefront window in a formerly vacant space (50 E Chicago Ave). For a week, seven artists (Richard Shipps, Jolanta Izabela Pawlak, Cydney M Lewis, Alexandra Lee (ATYL), Mark Moleski, Shawn Stucky & Stephen Flemister) will work in this space to create original paintings, sculptures or other art based on their personal interpretations of Patron tequila’s “Simply Perfect” brand tag.
