One of our first trips in Asia was to Okinawa, the southernmost island of Japan. Okinawa is hot, humid, and brilliantly gifted by sunshine. The Ryukyu Kingdom has a long and proud history, existing as a culture between the Chinese and Japanese long before it was colonized and formally annexed by Japan. We learned so much about the culture here, the influence that the US has had, and enjoyed so much delicious food. We would love to be back someday!

O' Bodega sign, I know you've braved the elements for years where you once lived.
If I could, I'd take you, and hang you around the windows outside my apartment.
I hope you will be happy wherever you are off to.
Scenes from Supercrawl 2012.
This gorgeous young model had been hired to pose as a live storefront mannequin. I shot this through the front window keeping at right angles to the glass to eliminate the effects of reflected smudges on the window.
I spotted this interesting angel artwork in a store window next door to the old Manchester Mill. Once the Chevrolet dealership in Manchester, this space was an art gallery at the time. My flickr contact KRFoto is the building's owner.

This is one of my night photos taken in Karaköy (Istanbul) during our stay. Our cruise ship stayed in Istanbul 2 days which permitted me to get out and capture some of the nighttime sights of the city.
I bracketed shots (3 at 1EV steps) and chose the "best" one. This RAW was then split into four images using Photoshop Raw and then these were fed into Photomatix Pro. Photomatix became a processor separating lights and darks. Most of these were processed with Fusion and others were Tonemapped as appropriate.
The lighting here is precious. The rich combination of sodium vapor, neon, and fluorescent light makes for a patchwork of color globs.
I wish I would have spent a bit more time with this building. It was so windy that it took my breath away to be outside too much. To me it appears that there was a fire and the passage of time is destroying this old storefront.
I had a hard time photographing this interesting storefront, but it was cool and vitrolite-y and streamlined. One door is right in front of the sidewalk opening, and the other is to the left behind the left curvy display window.

Tiled entryway of the former Woolworth's store in downtown Saginaw, MI.
Storefronts on Main Street were made of cast iron. This block is "hot property" for renovation in downtown Louisville. I'm just itching to sandblast the paint off of it!!!
