Ninenzaka, or Ninen-zaka (二年坂) is an ancient 150m stone-paved pedestrian road and tourist attraction in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, Japan. It is in the Gion district, known as Kyoto's geisha district. (Wikipedia)

Wild Horse derived it's name from a nearby creek. The creek was a watering hole for the wild mustangs that once roamed the area. Apparently the wild horses were plentiful and made the earth tremble as they charged across the plains. The legends suggest that they were descendants of the horses brought to America by Spanish explorers. The Spanish called them "bronchos".

The mall basically gave up on this space for some reason. For a while Chick-fil-A was actually using it as a billboard for their location in the mall!

Tea & Sympathy on Greenwich Avenue in the West Village and its British grocery provision shop, Carry On Tea & Sympathy which is located next door to the restaurant are all owned by Nicky Perry, a British expat. Nicky founded Tea & Sympathy in 1990 and it has attracted many British expats and celebrities over the years including Sarah Jessica Parker, Dame Judi Dench and David Bowie, who celebrated his 50th birthday at the tea-room style restaurant.

Yesterday, we dined with our dog, Hudson @hudsonpittienyc in the outdoor dining structure of @teaandsympathynyc and had a large pot of Typhoo tea for two and an order of both cod and haddock battered & fried fish 🐟& chips from their sister fish & chips shop, “A Salt & Battery” which were absolutely delicious. We ended our meal with a slice of Marmalade cake which Nicky made using her homemade marmalade and an order of custard and fresh scones served with clotted cream and jam (swipe left for 2nd photo).

And now for something completely different....

Sometimes when I'm walking around in New York, I see a storefront, like this one, that makes me think...man, who thinks up this stuff?

Happy Silly Storefront Sunday! ...ok, I just made that up :-)

This Mountaindale location was recently renovated and is now the home of Cinder Track Bicycles on Railroad Ave at the head of the Rails to Trails.

This shop had an interesting selection of Russian 🇷🇺 souvenirs, including military hats, pins and medals , a collection of Russian nesting dolls as well as music, fabrics, framed photos and postcards. It seemed like its window display remained unchanged for years and the interior was equally clutter-filled with Russian bric-a-bric from floor to ceiling. Sadly this shop closed in 2015 after a rent increase and the space was initially occupied by a coffee shop which also now has closed and (if memory serves us correctly) is currently occupied by a bubble tea place.

Storefront on Battleground Avenue. Neon lighting. The inside of the repair shop is actually white.

Storefront of the Tender Buttons shop on Rush Street in Chicago, Illinois. This store sells buttons of every kind imaginable.

Update--the store has closed and the building replaced with a highrise.

I think this was taken here in OKC somewhere, and the photo is dated 1955.
