Three-legged stools with steam-bent crinoline stretcher and hollowed seat. Ash legs; seat in ash or cherry.
Handcrafted Redwood Stool hand painted with flames all around the top and sides. A Fire fighter axe is on the front and back. Fire Engine is on top and ready to go to work!! What an awesome gift for a little boy who has a daddy that's a fireman! This stool is 9" tall, 14 1/2" wide and 11" deep. Water based acrylic paints were used.
St James Church Hall is a pleasant place but a bit limited in terms of sketching options. I grabbed this stool and parked it beside me. As ever I didn't quite position the sketch satisfactorily on the page.

An exercise in steambending very thin strips of hickory. Surface color is alcohol based aniline dye with wax finish. Steambent pieces can bear a lot of weight but are very very light.

So Chris and I met up early Saturday morning to shoot American Standard. Once we were finished we took a snowy trip to Toronto to shoot a high school. You can see

This is a still-life setup in class that we started over a week ago. In between, we took a break to work on ink wash, and then picked this up again this week.
We had a couple of class sessions to work on it, but I still had to finish it at home. It was hard to get back into the mindset to know what I was thinking after putting this down for a week. As you can see towards the end, it was a bit rushed to get it done.
