Abandoned church on the west side, a very beautiful old building.

I decided my Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G isn't sharp enough wide open, so I used my *very* early Nippon Kogaku Japan Nikkor-O Auto f/2 35mm lens made in either December 1965, or early 1966.
Outside the local Tourist Board stands this plastic life-size Guardsman.
It keeps the tourists happy.

Columns of sandstone shaped by the powerful flow of the Colorado River, illuminated by the light of the morning sun.
Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is on Navajo land east of Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon includes two separate, scenic slot canyon sections, referred to individually as "Upper Antelope Canyon" or "The Crack"; and "Lower Antelope Canyon" or "The Corkscrew".
Antelope Canyon was formed by erosion of Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to other sub-aerial processes. Rainwater, especially during monsoon season, runs into the extensive basin above the slot canyon sections, picking up speed and sand as it rushes into the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways eroded away, making the corridors deeper and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic "flowing" shapes in the rock.

Winter brings on cold weather; and we must shiver. Summer returns, with its heat; and we must sweat. Unseasonable weather upsets the health; and we must fall ill. The Great Egret walks with its neck extended and its wings held close to its body. In flight, it is graceful and buoyant, with its neck tucked back against its shoulders and its legs trailing behind. Great Egrets form monogamous pairs each breeding season, though it’s not known whether the pair bond lasts through multiple years. Early in the breeding season adults grow long plumes on their backs, which they raise in courtship displays. Males perform most of the displays, which can involve preening the wings, ducking the head, holding and shaking twigs in the bill, and stretching the neck. Nestlings compete fiercely with each other, and dominant chicks sometimes end up stabbing the youngest siblings to death. The chicks also threaten and attack intruders.

Over the last few years, I have watched as this tree trunk and its last few branches have withered away and diminished, going the way of all things that begin, that flourish and that, eventually, end.
This stoic remnant still holds on along the Kootenai Creek Trail
and Kootenai Creek itself, in the Bitterroot Valley near Stevensville, Montana.

The stoic pose of a Red-Shouldered Hawk (Buteo lineatus) signifies it's patient hunting style. This species is often heard more than seen. This hawk is usually on the hunt for small mammals, amphibians, reptiles, mice, snakes and occasionally fish.

A Bold, Stoic and Solid Piece of Rock.
Created eons ago by glaciers chafing away at the granite wall for millenia, the majestic El Capitan is a great monument iconic of Yosemite National Park.
It may have been a well photographed subject, but that didn't stop me from having another go at it.
Along the calm section of the Merced river a few hundred feet from the road, from the people, from the cars rushing by, I managed to find a place of forgiving solitude, a rare blissful state.
So calm and so serence; I could have spent the entire day there.

Inspired by bo-d, I came across a set of stairs and I new I had to do this. The wedding party thought I was nuts but they trusted me.
