Stigma Lounge presents Genesis Elijah

We went to Sheffield Park today and what a show it put on more flowers all open than I have seen in a long time it is well worth the visit but it won't last long. Mostly Rhododendrons and Azaleas so lots and lots of images but had 2 extension tubes on my lens so all very close up shots.

People affected by leprosy face enormous stigma and discrimination.

Due to the lack of bees the farmer takes a small paint brush to the end of the stigma and pollinates from male to female.

I took a shot of the stigma. It came out quite well. Although I had to adjust the saturation of red. It was to vivid.

I am glad I had help with the identification on this one....I need quite a bit of practice in most of the "common" species.....

a few off the petals have been disected off, so you can see the anther with pollen coming out the top. The other connate petals are still visible, as is the twisted stigma, and the wrinkled appendages coming off of the white part of the floret are the pappus.

Fallen flower by the seaside, taken with my Kit 18-105 VR lens.

Don't know what flower this is...but it's a white one. I like the macro came out :0)
