SO: you're in a theater, 40 minutes into, say, a 'romantic comedy'...
SUDDENLY: PALEOLITHIC cave painters appear on screen @ work on the most breathtaking mural ever seen...no explanation...an ineffable gravitas, a virtually palpable sense of history alive, including even (widely reported) the scent of smoke and human sweat...
FOR 12 INEXPLICABLE MINUTES...speaking in a language never heard by modern humanity, one artist even apparently making a joke that elicits loud collective laughter echoing through invisible chambers of an unknown cave (the location soon after discovered, further removing the prospect of a grand hoax & emphasizing a non-human intelligence behind it)
...SOME of the (unknowingly global) audience is intrigued and even mesmerized, others, after a minute or two, irritated, descend across time-zones (but mostly PST, West Coast U.S) to multiplex lobbies to complain, demand an explanation, what'-s-this-TRAILER doing interrupting what-I-Paid-To-SEE, etc...

The Ed Sullivan Theater has been home to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert since 2015. The two-level theater was built as Hammerstein's Theatre, in conjunction with a 13-story Gothic-style office tower, in 1927. Designed by Herbert J. Krapp with over 1,500 seats, it has since been downsized to 370. It was operated by Arthur Hammerstein until 1931, used by CBS radio broadcasts starting in 1936, and then converted to a tv studio in 1950. Under the Studio 50 name, it housed The Ed Sullivan Show from 1953 to 1971, as well as other shows such as The Merv Griffin Show, The Garry Moore Show and The Jackie Gleason Show. Renamed after Ed Sullivan in 1967, it was used as a broadcast facility in the 1980s and converted to stage CBS's the Late Show franchise in 1993, first under David Letterman and then under Colbert.
I went to the rally in D.C. today, there was a gigantic crowd, had to be at least 200,000, they whole event was great and the message was one that we should all pay heed too. This is the revised design for the Colbert Puppet. The biggest consideration is how the skull will be built, and also how the eyebrows will work.
It's a Colbert puppet, so it NEEDS working eyebrows.

The show offers a hilariously scathing satire of TV news broadcasting and political talk show personalities. The portait, a gift to the Museum by Colbert, was originally a prominent part of the studio setting.
