This portrait of Stephen Colbert hangs in the Smithsonian Museum of American History. Really. No kidding.

Caption says:

This digital image on canvas, designed to resemble a formal oil portrait, is of writer-comedian Stephen Colbert in his guise as the fictional host of the Comedy Central Network series, The Colbert Report. In describing his on-screen persona of a blustery, conservative news commentator, Colbert observed, "My character is self-important, poorly informed, well-intentioned but an idiot." The show offers a hilariously scathing satire of TV news broadcasting and political talk show personalities. The portrait was originally a prominent part of his studio setting.

As a joke, the National Portrait Gallery put a painting of Stephen Colbert between the men's and women's room. The joke was on them, as the portrait drew a big crowd -- much bigger than the Dead White Presidents in the gallery next door.

we discovered in Washington we don't just love Stephen Colbert's show but we love his ice cream flavour too!

Stephen Colbert and crooner Michael Buble sing O Canada to the tune of the American anthem. Not easy to do. The people in my section tried.

To get around the IOC's draconian licensing rules, The Colbert Report called its Vancouver 2010 Olympic shows: "Exclusive Vancouverage of the 2010/Quadrennial Cold Weather Athletic Competition/Defeat the World! " It's very similar to what LuluLemon called its non-authorized clothing line: "Cool Sporting Event That Takes Place in British Columbia Between 2009 & 2011 Edition"
