This is a hand-painted, stepback cupboard or Americana style hutch that I am sadly parting with. It just doesn't fit with the size/shape of our new place.
This is two separate pieces, the bottom cabinet and top hutch, and both are very sturdy, all wood, and great for display, decorating and storage. The top has a decorative but simple scrollwork, which is painted burgendy, and the rest is forest green with interesting hardware (never removed or cleaned). It's exactly as is when I got it several years ago, and can be repainted.
I don't know the history, but you can see on the inside of the scrollwork the remnants of folk art painting, blue and yellow. perhaps the original paint, and this could give an idea to origin. I also posted a pic of this
Depth is 17.5" on the bottom, 11" on the top, so it works well along a traffic wall because it doesn't stick out into the walking area. 3 shelves on top, two on bottom...and we hide a TON of stuff in the bottom (see pic!). Note bottom shelves are tall enough you can store wine bottles and other hard-to-store stuff
Dimensions are 7'2.5" tall and 3'8" wide. Message me if interested!! Make me feel better about parting ways with it.
Set back from the Aon Center, and to the left, the Two Prudential Plaza with its diamond-shaped stepbacks is visible, and on the right there's Aqua tower with its undulating balconies and reflective pools of undisturbed glass.

A stepback in time to watch the 1940's film 'Sons of Matthew' at the historic Paragon Theatre, Childers.
The Mundelein Center for the Performing Arts is generally known as "the Skyscraper Building" of Loyola University. The 14 story tower uses the classic step-back design of other, taller, structures of its period. Opened in 1930, it was designed by Nairne Fisher (1901-1980), working for the firm of Joseph McCarthy. On the National Register of Historic Places.
The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren was one of my favorite reads of 2021. It is a smart, fun, and sexy story set here in my hometown of San Diego!
⠀
My Soulmate steps: 1) I read it last May via Overdrive on my Kindle. 2) I bought the Kindle version. 3) I acquired the Audible version, wonderfully narrated by Patti Murin. 4) When I saw this glorious purple (my favorite color!) cover with the bright yellow stepback strip, adorable art print of Jess and River, and author-signed bookplate…woo hoo, yes, please!
⠀
Thankful to Christina and Lo for another delightful and charming literary treasure!

This is the right side of the stepback cupboard that my husband restored in which we now display our Redwing (Minnesota) Pottery "Oomph". The things on the top shelf were my Mother-in-Law's, but everything else I've added to the collection.
Devin Booker scored 15 of his game-high 36 points in the third quarter to help the visiting Phoenix Suns pull away from the stubborn Houston Rockets 129-112 on Wednesday.
Booker was the ignition behind a 12-1 run that enabled the Suns to finally subdue Houston, drilling a pair of 3s that silenced a Rockets run back into contention. Booker nailed a stepback 3-pointer at the 5:23 mark of the third that helped Phoenix reclaim its double-digit lead at 81-70.
Booker added another 3, a driving dunk and a 20-footer down the stretch of the period that allowed Phoenix to match its biggest lead of the first half at 94-79. He made 6 of 9 shots in the period including 3 of 6 from behind the arc to lead the Suns to their seventh win in nine games.
Mikal Bridges added 26 points for Phoenix while Torrey Craig posted a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds while shooting 8 for 8 from the floor. Deandre Ayton (23 points, 11 rebounds) provided additional support as Booker notched his 22nd 30-point game this season.
Rockets guards Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green combined for 43 points on 16-for-30 shooting, including 9 for 16 from deep as Houston shot 16 for 39 on 3-pointers. Porter added a team-high eight assists while Christian Wood paired 18 points with nine rebounds and Dennis Schroder totaled 17 points and six assists off the bench. Houston has lost 20 of its last 23 games.

This Pennsylvania Stepback Cupboard, built in 1998, was the first "real" cabinet I made. This was the start of my career as a kitchen designer and cabinetmaker.

The former Masonic Temple at 64 Main Street (corner Murray Street) in Binghamton, New York, as seen in November 2019. Built in 1923 to a design by local architect Walter Whitlock, this four-story steel and concrete structure ultimately falls under the umbrella of the Neoclassical style, but the design is very much a forward-looking one: the streamlined forms, stylized ornamentation (note the relief panels that crown the pilaster strips at the left, with their shell motif), recessed parapet atop the main portion of the building, and stepbacks on the corner tower all presage the Art Deco aesthetic that would come to the fore in the next few years. By contrast, the hexastyle Ionic portico at the entrance is a far more traditionalist affair. This and the exterior cladding are all composed of what the Binghamton Press described in contemporaneous coverage as a "warm, buff-colored stone manufactured by the Onondaga Litholite Company" of Syracuse. The interior contained of a thousand-seat first-floor auditorium with amphitheater-style seating, three Beman organs, and mural paintings by noted artist Thomas G. Moses, with lodge chambers on the second floor and a grand ballroom on the third. Ground is broken in June 1922 on this grand building which was intended as a replacement for the former Masonic temple on Chenango Street, which had burned to the ground four years earlier. Like its predecessor, it would serve as a central meeting hall for the city's various lodges. However, progress on its construction was repeatedly delayed due to building materials shortages, such that it was not until November of the following year that the temple was dedicated. The building was used by the Masons for the next several decades (and, increasingly in later years, also rented out for concerts, stage shows, and other events) before declining membership force them to sell the building in 1989. It has been vacant and in increasingly derelict conditions since then, despite numerous failed proposals for its reviews (an apartment building for senior citizens in the early 1990s, Binghamton University student housing in the early 2000s, a mixed-use complex in the late 2010s). It is hoped that the availability of historic preservation tax credits due to the building's listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 2021 (as a contributing property to the Main Street Historic District) will prove a boon to some future redeveloper.

Heading down from Cartridge Hill towards Ryal Fold. The woodland surrounds Stepback Brook just to the west of Darwen Tower.
This Stepback Cupboard was built into my parents' house in NJ, the one I was "born" in. They took it with them when they moved and finally we aquired it when my Mom was downsizing back in 2001. Joe then restored it and it now houses our collection of Redwing (MN) "Oomph" Bakeware. The top shelf houses Joe's Mom's original stuff and all the rest we've added to it. These were her everyday dishes when Joe was a kid! I love the cabinet and the Oomph! Plus my collection of kitchen molds is displayed around the cupboard.
