Texture Tutorial — Adobe Photoshop
I like playing with digital blending on PS and one of the simplest applications is texturing an image (of course without the use of filters!) .
I have numerically labeled the images for your reference and this is how we proceed :
Step1 (Image Selection) — Take the image (1) and process it to get on to image (2).
Step2 (Texture Selection) — Select the texture you wish to render. One example is the vintage crushed-postcard in image (3). You can either scan a texture of your choice or google it. || Examples Tex 1, Tex 2 etc
Step3 (Texture Preparation) — This is an important step! We shall use the Distort Filter in photoshop and for this we need to make a texture map. This is done as follows,
Step3.1 Make a new image file and paste the texture there.
Step3.2 Now, desaturate the image (Ctrl+Shift+U in PC) and blur it (I prefer 'Blur More' filter or alternatively you can also use Gaussian Blur).
Step3.3 Save this file in PSD format by name 'Texture_map.psd".
Step4 (Texturing) — Keep your texture image (3) as background. Take the processed image (2) to a new layer above it (called 'layer 1'). Keeping layer 1 selected, go to Filter-> Distort -> Displace. Select displace range to 5 pixels (I use this often). And apply the filter.
Step5 (Digital Blending) — Keeping 'layer 1' selected, change the image blending mode to multiply or soft light (depends on subjective selection, as you want!) and just play with the opacity of this layer and you are done!

â The color balance of Texture image should be in sync with that of your foreground image. (Imagine how blue over yellow would look like..it could be creative though).
â If you select a texture with great number of ridges you need to use a stronger blur (in STEP3.2). You don't want to make your projection of image on the texture look like an artifact!
â You can't move your layer 1 once you have applied the displace filter.
â Your image size should be less than or equal to your texture image.
â I Strongly Recommend you to view this Gallery.
There are many kind people who are willing to share their textures. Check this for example! Drop me a mail if you want your texture page to be added here.

This is another in my John Muir Trail series. It is a panorama, a stitch of six single exposures made with a Nikon D7000 and Tokina 11-16mm. This panorama covers about a 150 degree view, from WSW at image right to due east at the left. Please view my other JMT images in my JMT set.
This day began early when we left the Tyndall Frog Ponds and will end a few miles from here at Guitar Lake. Timberline Lake is right at the edge of the Whitney Zone between Crabtree Meadow and Guitar Lake and, unfortunately, it is not open to camping. The Whitney Zone is an area that is basically all granite. It's very remote and there are no "facilities" in this area. Since it is nearly impossible to dig holes in the solid granite, hikers must use "wag bags" to deposit their human waste and are also required to pack out this waste.
Crabtree Meadows, about a mile west of where this image was made, is a pretty important spot for Sierra hikers as it's usually the location where many will leave the main corridor trail toward their summit attempt of Mt. Whitney. The elevation here at Timberline Lake is about 11000' and the trail between here and Guitar Lake (approx. 11500') becomes steep in certain sections as it begins its ascent toward Mt. Whitney (14505'). For our group, this is the last full day on the trail as tomorrow we will summit Mt. Whitney and exit the trail at Whitney Portal.

Finally, I'm done with the drawing that kept me away all that time ^_^ here it is.... hope it'll impress you ;P i worked so hard on this one! really!
hehe ^_^ this is my all time fantasy! To be loved by "Light Yagami" <<< The main character in the amazing Manga and Anime "Death Note", the best anime i've ever seen! <3 as you can see it's Ivory between Light's arms <3 >_< felt kinda shy imagining it hehehe .... you'll never understand how i feel, only if ur an anime freak who falls for each cool character like myself! I'll tell you something funny!
^_^ when i was like 13 i fell in love! hehe yes i did, guess with who? :P
with captain Tsubasa "captain Majed"... an anime character of a young boy with great ambition to play in the football world cup and win it! ^__^ i was so cute wasn't I... hehe :P
But Death Note is the best ever! The writer is a genius i don't know how did he get the idea!
Simply, the story is about a smart young man"Light" who is bored of his life, one day he saw a note book fall from the sky. "Death Note" was written on the cover of the note book, uuh... its a long story, but here is the link to two trailers i made of the anime! ^__^ it'll explain everything and will let you check if my Light resembles the original one ^___________^...

Step 2: prepare electric iron and a small piece of solder wire.
Step3: get a little solder welded on the negative electrode of the battery.
Then the meter works again!.
For this step you need to do the following
DUPLICATE LAYER on layer pallette
FILTER - BLUR - GAUSSIAN BLUR 9.4 pixels
FILTER - NOISE - ADD NOISE 3%
from the top menu select LAYER - ADD LAYER MASK - HIDE ALL
using the lasso tool select only the eyes and choose SELECT - FEATHER about 6pixels
Choose SELECT - INVERSE
now use the brush on the tool pallette and set the brush opacity to 30% - brush over the entire image
Now FLATTEN the image

Step 1: do the framing, I think I got to make an interesting framing.
Step2: the shadow of the branches in the figure, two choices: either erase and rework with adobe or keep them. I opt to keep them.
Step3: I am trying different treatments to lessen the contrast between the brightness of the face and the shadows of branches. Choice of treatment ambrotype and retouching to restore the original blue eyes.
Step 4: after 4 versions, I consult my daughter ( she is the model), we have the same final choice for the photo.
Isn't it a nice smile and also Mom's smile that you can not see :-))
Finally got around to building the embankment. In the perfect world, this would have been nice to do all in LEGO, but the cost of bricks/plates required, plus the weight for transporting were both issues for me, so this was by far the cheaper, lighter option and probably much more fun to do:)

Stain removal can be easy if you know the right way to do it. Photo: Flickr
Stubborn stains are one of the most common reasons why people throw away their carpets after very short use. If you want to prolong the life of your rugs you need to take proper care of them and deal with spills and other accidents the best possible way. Knowing the adequate stain removal method will help you prevent it from becoming permanent and ruin your carpet.
3 of the Most Common Mistakes When Dealing with a Stain
The best thing you can do to prolong your carpetâs life if to try to prevent stains in the first place. Put doormat at every entrance to trap mud and avoid it getting into the rugâs fibres. You can also place a smaller rug under the dining and coffee table. This way if someone spills their beverage or drops their food, it gets onto the mat instead of on the carpet.
However, accidents do happen and it is good to avoid these 3 mistakes, when dealing with them:
Use a slightly damp sponge to prevent spreading the stain on your carpet.
Donât over-soak the spot with water and cleaning solution. This way the stain will spread and you will end with a bigger area to clean.
Never rub the stained spot on your carpet. Although it may seem the best move, energetic scrubbing will push the dirt deeper into the textile fibre and make it more difficult to remove.
Donât soak the spot if it has dried up, especially if it is mud or soil. When dealing with dry stains, scrape off excessive dirt with a dull knife, and run a vacuum onto the spot to extract as much of the substance as possible.
These 5 steps will help you remove any stain! Photo: Flickr
The Most Effective Method to Remove Stains from Carpet and Rugs
There are kinds of spills and stains that take more time to remove than others. Most foods like grease, chocolate and fruit juice are difficult to remove. Same applies for beverages like coffee or wine. However, if you act quickly and follow the steps below, you will be able to clean even the most stubborn stains from your carpet.
Step 1
Remove as much of the excessive dirt from your carpet as soon as you can. If the stain is semi-solid or thick, like cream, or sauce, scrape it carefully with a dull knife. In case the dirt has already dried up, vacuum the spot to extract as much of the substance as possible. If the stain is wet, take a clean, dry towel and gently blot the carpet to pull out the liquid.
Step2:
After you are done with the first step, dip a clean towel in cold water, squeeze it well, and blot the area to loosen the stain. Never use hot water, as high temperature can make some spills more difficult to remove. For example eggs and dairy products coagulate when they get in touch with warmth.
Prepare all the cleaning supplies you will use ahead. Photo: Flickr
Step3:
Choose appropriate stain removal product for your carpet. In some cases, you can use your ordinary liquid dish detergent. Test the product on a small inconspicuous spot of the carpet first. If there is no colour bleeding or other harmful reaction it is safe to use the cleaner. Prepare thick foam by whisking together the product and cup of lukewarm water. Apply the foam onto the spot and leave it for a few minutes to let the cleaning agent do its job.
Step 4:
Dip a clean towel in cool water and start blotting the stain in order to remove the cleaning product and rinse the spot. Repeat a few times until there is no more suds, or colouration onto the carpet.
Step 5:
Take a dry towel and blot the area to pull out the water. After this allow the rug to dry completely before stepping on it. Donât be tempted to use a hair dryer to make this step faster, as directed heat can deform some types of carpet fibres.
Follow these steps to remove any type of dirt from your textile flooring. With some stains, you might need to be patient.Repeat the 3rd step twice, or more to clean the area completely. However, if the spot is too old, or if you are not sure if you have the right product to remove it, it is best to call professional carpet cleaning company.
