All three parts are nicely ended, and the leaf and stem are stitched to the apple at the ending of the 7th round of the circle.

I'm quickly remembering how hard it is to come up with different photography ideas every day.

This little program looks for photos on flickr by a given search word. Afterwards, the colors of the photos are analyzed. The color itself gets detected and how often each color is found. This data is the foundation of every stem. Each segment represents one color of the photo, the diameter shows the quantity. The cell resolution in all segments is based on the brightness of the color.

New style stems allow for little height adjustment so I got this extension piece to raise my handlebars higher.

Late Friday night, 40 high school girls arrived at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, for a STEM-themed sleepover, ready to learn about careers in Science, technology, engineering and math. The educational event offered young women a chance to meet working female scientists and to discover opportunities for women in STEM-related professions.

The teens kicked off the third annual STEM Girls Night In with an astronaut Q&A, talks from female scientists across disciplines and a collection of hands-on activities. The night culminated in a three-hour Mars rover competition and concluded with a late-night showing of “Hidden Figures.”

De man werkt nooit maar scheld graag op de regering die hem van een uitkering voorziet. en hem in de gelegenheid stelt om vrijwel dagelijks op of rond het Binnenhof rond te hangen en te protesteren .

NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, in partnership with SAIC and Bowie State University, hosted the third Sustaining Women in STEM roundtable, featuring some of the nation's leading STEM trailblazers, on Nov. 7, 2019.

In an era when the workplace is shifting toward the promise of innovation and creativity for future generations, diversity must be a critical component of success. Nowhere is this more vital than in STEM fields, where women are still underrepresented.

The event featured STEM leaders who have demonstrated success in creating environments that encourage and advance women in STEM careers. The day included dynamic morning presentations, enlightening panel discussions, candid question-and-answer dialogues and afternoon breakout sessions.

Day 289 of 365 - Pumpkin Stem

Day 37 of 50 (50mm for 50days)

I fear this may be very close to another photo I have seen here on flickr but I can't find it to credit the photographer. If it is your's or you know who's it is let me know so I can credit it. In cany case I really liked the idea and thought I would do one of my own.

Made in Toledo, this cleverly designed stem can be flipped or rotated to provide four different bar height positions. An interesting side note of this stem is that it was standard equipment on Hearsey Special bicycles of Indianapolis. The founder of Hearsey Bicycles, H. T. Hearsey was the individual who entered Major Taylor in his first race in 1893 from Indianapolis to Matthews.

A Microscopic Study is the topic of my project theme for the group, 100 x: The 2025 Edition.

"Zea is a genus of flowering plants in the grass family. The best-known species is Z. mays (variously called maize, corn, or Indian corn), one of the most important crops for human societies throughout much of the world. The four wild species are commonly known as teosintes and are native to Mesoamerica." (Wikipedia)

A rare Routens stem, un-atached to a frame . I really like the aesthetic of these stems, with the pointed top curl, and the tapered handlebar clamp., Integrated bell mount, very functional.

just gorgeous.

I'd love one for my own Routens!!

No cables in this shot. The integrated stem eliminates the hanger and flex from said hanger to calm chatter. An elegant innovation.

On Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, along with its partner The Maryland Space Business Roundtable, invited approximately 60 Prince George’s County high school girls, ages 16 to 17, and their chaperones to its first-ever “STEM Girls Night In” sleepover. The event aimed to reinvigorate, inspire and engage high school girls who may be struggling with, or are not fully engaged in, STEM education.

Activities included competitions and challenges, a telescope stargazing party, a scavenger hunt, speed networking, movie night and more.

NASA's Journey to Mars is turning science fiction into science fact. Space materials, deep space propulsion, long-term Mars habitats, and human factors all are in play in NASA labs and space industry factories around the U.S. A panel of NASA and industry experts showcased the technologies and capabilities already being built for deep space human exploration, and contrasted NASA’s plans with the exploration path laid out in “The Martian.”

Panelists: NASA SLS Program's Kimberly Robinson, Sharon Cobb, Chris Crumbly; NASA Johnson Space Center's + former astronaut Jan Davis; NASA astronaut Jeanette Epps.

The GFP+ (green) neuron depicted is an embryonic radial glia stem cell.

These cells are found in an area called the ventricular zone during embryonic development and this area unsurprisingly flanks the ventricles of the brain.

These radial glia stem cells will give rise to neurons and glia.

Notice that there appears to be projections moving upwards (towards pial surface) and downwards (toward ventricle) from the soma of the stem cell. These are projections that are important to cellular migration of daughter cells and orienting the stem cell itself.

MTA New York City Transit President Richard Davey and Senior Vice President of Subways Demetrius Crichlow surprise 7th grade students Alan, Chris, Criss, and Sinthia with a visit to Liberty Avenue Middle School on Thursday, Jan 12, 2023. The students, under the guidance of teacher Jessica Abrams, are state finalists in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow STEM competition with their design of a push-button method for summoning police or mental health assistance in the subway.

This Stem was made to compliment Hooker Elite aero bicycles.

In this young hollow stem of a buttercup (Ranunculus sp.), a dicot, the conducting tissue is contained within separate vascular bundles, forming a peripheral ring around the stem.

Most of the tissue of the stem consists of thin-walled packing cells called parenchyma. Between the vascular bundles and the outer epidermis is a region known as the cortex. Here the parenchyma cells are relatively small and contain chloroplasts for photosynthesis. Inside the ring formed by the vascular bundles, the parenchyma consists of larger cells. This region is called the pith. In many plants, like this specimen, the pith is hollow

Cells of the parenchyma support the stem by their turgidity. In older stems the support role is achieved by growth of new tissues, in a process called secondary thickening.

The diameter of the largest xylem vessel is about 30 µm.
