There are many river cruises in Singapore, and it is something very popular for tourists. Here is a river cruise boat on the water, a small number of visitors in the boat looking out of the boat. The boat is near the shore, and with large buildings on the shore. This building includes the One Fullerton plaza which is a large waterfront development.

The Angel of the North is a contemporary sculpture, designed by Antony Gormley, located in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, England.

Completed in 1998, it is a steel sculpture of an angel, 20 metres (66 ft) tall, with wings measuring 54 metres (177 ft) across. The wings do not stand straight sideways, but are angled 3.5 degrees forward; Gormley did this to create "a sense of embrace". The angel like much of Gormley's other work is based on a cast of his body.

It stands on the hill of Birtley, at Low Eighton in Lamesley, overlooking the A1 and A167 roads into Tyneside, and the East Coast Main Line rail route, south of the site of Team Colliery.

Work began on the project in 1994, and cost £800,000. Most of the project funding was provided by the National Lottery. The Angel was installed on 15 February 1998.

Due to its exposed location, the sculpture was built to withstand winds of over 100 mph (160 km/h). Thus, foundations containing 600 tonnes (590 long tons; 660 short tons) of concrete anchor the sculpture to rock 70 feet (21 m) below. The sculpture was built at Hartlepool Steel Fabrications Ltd using COR-TEN weather-resistant steel. It was made in three parts—with the body weighing 100 tonnes (98 long tons; 110 short tons) and two wings weighing 50 tonnes (49 long tons; 55 short tons) each—then brought to its site by road. The components were transported in convoy—the body on a 48-wheel trailer—from their construction site in Hartlepool, up the A19 road to the installation site 28 miles (45 km) away; the nighttime journey took five hours and attracted large crowds.

The Angel aroused some controversy in British newspapers, at first, including a "Gateshead stop the statue" campaign, while local councillor Martin Callanan was especially strong in his opposition. However, it has since been considered to be a landmark for North East England and has been listed by one organisation as an "Icon of England". It has often been used in film and television to represent Tyneside, as are other local landmarks such as the Tyne Bridge and the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.

The sculpture is also humorously known by some local people as the "Gateshead Flasher", because of its location and appearance

Birmingham, England, April 2nd 2022. Work to dismantle the three unused gasholders at Windsor Street in Birmingham is now underway. The steel structures at the Nechells site were last in use in 2012, as improvements to the gas transmission system means gas can now be stored in the pipe system underground. The gasworks once housed 11 gasholders and when the twin gasholders were built in 1885, they were the largest in the world. The iconic landmark was first painted in the colours of local football club, Aston Villa in the 1980s. It’s believed that the engineer once in charge of maintenance chose the colours because he was a supporter of the club. Dismantling the gasholders is the first step to bringing the site back into beneficial use. The work, by specialist contractor DSM, is expected to be completed in 2022.

Captured during the Siege of Sarajevo in the 1990s, this haunting image of Zetra Stadium’s interior tells a story of resilience amid destruction. Once a celebrated venue for the 1984 Winter Olympics, this space was transformed by the war into a makeshift refuge for displaced civilians and a storage area for humanitarian aid. In this photograph, shafts of sunlight filter through the gaping holes in the partially collapsed roof, illuminating the battered scoreboard that still bears the Olympic rings—a stark reminder of a time when Sarajevo was celebrated on the world stage.

The photograph captures not only the physical scars of conflict but also the resilience of the human spirit. The structure’s steel beams remain, though bent and broken, while the scoreboard, still proudly displaying the Olympic insignia, serves as a symbol of both defiance and remembrance. The white dome in the foreground hints at temporary structures that were brought in to support the humanitarian operations that unfolded under the constant threat of shelling.

This image is a powerful testament to warchitecture—the ways in which architecture becomes entangled in the realities of conflict. Zetra Stadium, once a place of athletic triumph and international unity, was transformed into a shelter for the vulnerable and a hub of logistical support during the darkest days of the siege.

Zetra’s transformation highlights the adaptability of human-made spaces in times of crisis. The survival of this scoreboard—its Olympic emblem weathered but still visible—speaks to the endurance of both structure and spirit in the face of relentless violence. Today, Zetra Stadium stands as a poignant reminder of Sarajevo’s Olympic legacy, the horrors of war, and the unyielding strength of its people.

The Poughkeepsie Railroad Bridge's importance was severely reduced in 1960. Later, on May 8, 1974, the Railroad Bridge suffered a wooden-tie fire that damaged about 700 feet of the bridge decking. As years passed The Poughkeepsie-Highland Railroad Bridge Company, Inc., was delighted to turn this wonder of Hudson Valley History into a pedestrian and cyclist walkway. As of September 5, 2009, conversion work and repairs to structural steel and the laying of concrete slabs for the walkway were completed. The volunteer head of the "Walkway", as it is known locally, said in 2008, "We think people will come from all over [to enjoy its magnificence]"

The river cruises in Singapore are very popular and there are a number of tourist operators providing this service. Every resort or hotel has a tie-up for the same, and this is the office of the same service provided by the Marina Bay Sands hotel in the Marina reservoir.
