The structural columns of the Richard J. Daley Center are 87 feet apart, which is a relatively large span. Towards the top of the columns, the width diminishes as the floors require less support.
For four years, from 1965 to 1969, the Daley Center was the tallest building in Chicago. In 2001, it received historical status, only 36 years after its completion. The building has a small height to floor ratio, due to the large floor to floor distance of 18 feet.
LMS Coronation Pacific No 46223 "Duchess of Sutherland" passing the soon to be redundant Stirling Middle signalbox with the "75th Anniversary Special" express from Perth to Sheffield on 7th September 2013. Typically, these locomotives spent their long working lives hurrying similar, heavy expresses along this road. The historic semaphore signals are of Caledonian Railway origin and are doomed to be replaced with a new colourlight system. The re-signalling works are proceeding apace, so this is likely to be the final record, here, embracing such delightfully apposite subjects. (Please view F11 in lightbox for intended best.)

RAF Senigot, taken towards end of Summer after finally finding the location Yeah. Go in better light next time.
Four towering gantry cranes stand in a row along a distant industrial shoreline, their skeletal steel frames rising against a hazy, overcast sky. Two lighter-colored cranes on the left, weathered to a rusty cream, contrast with two darker navy cranes to the right, all four idle and motionless, their booms retracted. Behind them, a long gray warehouse building with a corrugated roof stretches along the waterfront, hinting at ongoing shipyard or port operations. In the foreground, a dense tangle of wild shrubs, grasses, and small trees has overtaken what was once likely cleared land, with a discarded wooden plank lying half-submerged in the undergrowth. Utility poles and light towers punctuate the middle distance, adding to the industrial character of the scene. The contrast between the untamed, weedy foreground and the mechanical precision of the cranes beyond captures a liminal space where nature has begun reclaiming the edges of an active industrial site.

It's flying over the jerk chicken place on Roscoe and Sheffield, having flown over the Red/Purple line tracks, and will soon hook up with the pillars going to the westbound Brown Line (Ravenswood) tracks.

The rusty fonts of either Polish or Lithuanian scripture on the 1970 gravesite of Mykola's Krupavicius.
This all welded steel structure marks the grave of Mykola’s Krupavicius - (1885-1970). All the letters that are inside the arc shaped structure are welded to hollow steel tubes which are welded in place between each piece of vertical square tube.
The base at the bottom of the structure has more letters that may have threaded studs welded on the backside so they could possibly be bolted down.
I am also not sure if the entire structure was ever painted. There is no evidence of any paint. The structure is rusty. The letters inside the arc show faded & worn paint as does part of the base under the individual letters.
I'm going to have to reshoot this when the sun is lined up dead center so all the letters are bathed in sunlight or wait for a cloudy day.
