And the muscle powered vehicle in front is just my bike...😁

This old steam locomotive was placed there as memorial to the time when the Xuhui riverside promenade and park (徐汇滨江公园) used to be a busy warehousing and cargo area.

The locomotive was made in 1987 by the Datong Locomotive Works (大同机车工厂). It is a 2-8-2 "JS" (建设, Jianshe = Construction), in the revised "B" specification, build no. 8145.

Of the "JS" in total 1,916 units were made in two production runs (not only at Datong), from 1957-1965 and again 1981 until the final end of production in 1988/9.

I had a blast running my SPC 2-6-0 over the weekend. This loco has an RC system for the throttle, reverser, and whistle.

I was able to achieve a nice, steady, slow run and was quite happy to get a solid run in for an hour with just a few stops for water to be sure things were good in the boiler.

Arriving at Hull Station to take part in Filming the forties TV Drama called the "Blitz".....LMS Stanier Class 5MT 4932, is a preserved British steam locomotive. It is one of 18 surviving members of the Black 5 class which had 842 members constructed by five manufacturers. 44932 is the sole remaining member of the class which was built at the LMS's Horwich Works.

I can remember when, as a kid, I used to put postcards or postal enveloppes on top of a pan full of boiling water, so that I could detach the stamps without damaging them and collect them neatly in albums...

My collection is long gone (I've sold it for a ridiculously low price at a flea market in my teens), but I'm sometimes tempted again to put aside a few nice stamps. Maybe out of nostalgy.

For preparing this shot, I've started the process with a water boiler beforehand. Then for taking the picture I've been using the steam from an air humidifier, placed under the stamps.

This is one of the few shots with roughly the right amount of steam-induced blurriness but still enough crispness in the subject. 😊

This viaduct is just a few hundred yards from Garsdale Station on the Settle to Carlisle Railway. Another stormy day with great opportunities for photography; glorious heather on the hillside.

One of my first German pictures of the year.... On the HSB network one can still find steam in daily operation on scheduled passenger trains. Here HSB 99-7245 storms out of Nordhausen with the 10:33 train to Brocken. Despite the completely backlit conditions I was quite happy with the resulting photo, the magic of steam!

A beautiful shot of steam engine 3526, coming though a cutting

This small steam engine was built for one purpose to haul lumber down from logging sites to lower elevation from the mid 1890's to the 1940's. However after WWII conservationists closed down logging operations and many thousands of acres of land were reforserted. This old tank engine is now just a decorative piece to an entrance to a ski resort.

Have a good day!

The passing thunderstorm in the morning had all the area wet enhancing the steam in the air ... and when the sun punched through a small hole in the clouds into the dark scene, the drama there was breathtaking to say the least.
