collagraph & monoprint on marbled paper
11" x 8.5"
2020
Lock down during Covid 19 pandemic sure has been a challenge but at the same time it has opened me up to different ways to print. My love of fiber arts (crochet) has been implemented into my prints. I crocheted flowers, leaf, and bunny appliques for printing. I have many types of paper to print on that included: handmade with/ without inclusions, handmade eco paper, and cardstock. All worked very well in my processes.
Everything I printed was with my hands, fingers, and a wooden block covered with felt. All hand printed with no traditional press involved. I love how the texture of my stitches have imprinted on the paper.
To replace traditional printmaking inks, I used oil based paints thinned lightly with homemade medium from Damar Crystals and turpentine. I dabbed the paint onto the appliques and used hand pressure to print on the paper.
Stayed home from work today - my Scottish Flu is getting the best of me. I
didn't take any photos today, so this is a cheat from my trip.
This is a view of the walls of the Cavern Club in Liverpool where the
Beatles got their break and where LOTS of huge names played back in the day.
The Stones, The Who, Clapton, Hendrix - the list goes on. One of the bands
that were big back then went by the name of Wishbone Ash. I don't know if
any of you have ever heard of them... I had not heard of them either until
one day I played golf in Sedona, AZ and was paired up with their bass
player. An interesting brush with greatness...

This is a mural on the outside wall of Mboole Basic School. It is quite typical to see schools painted with bright pictures portraying many messages. At this school, there are a number of murals depicting various scenes of village life, and we liked this one the best. A hope that families would value their child’s education more than having some extra hands around the house.
Stayed home and watched some TV tonight. Enjoyed a rare treat ... Ice cream! Lactose free, of course.
