A Very Strange Statue
In 2014 there was much comment about an attempt to place a 13 foot-high statue called "The Don" outside an office development at 132-134 Hills Road.
Cambridge City Council’s public art officer described it as “possibly the poorest quality work” that has ever been submitted to them.
The sculptor, Pablo Atchugarry, disowned the piece claiming he had never seen it before.
Lots of comments in the media (Google “Cambridge Don Statue”).
Nothing more seems to have happened for several years until this statue appeared at 132-134 Hills Road.
It was not in place in April 2019 when the Google Street View vehicle went by, but it was there in September 2020.
It has a plaque in front saying
"HRH Prince Philip
Duke of Edinburgh
Chancellor
University of Cambridge
1977 -2011"
However I can find absolutely nothing about it.
I mailed the property company who own the site (Unex Holdings) asking for information but got no reply
Comparing this statue with the pictures of "The Don" suggests that this is a modified version with some gold paint.

Another interesting statue seen in Koblenz Germany.
Peter Schneider, a hawker who walked from door to door trying to sell braces, laces and newspapers.
His nickname comes from a certain disease he suffered from; a form of neuropathy which affected his way of walking, causing strange looking movements of his limbs.
People were reminded of caoutchouc and therefore named him 'rubber'.
A statue of Queen Victoria stands in front of the National Library of Malta in Republic Square, Valletta, Malta. Sculpted out of marble by the Sicilian artist Giuseppe Valenti, the statue depicts the Queen sitting down and wearing a shawl of Maltese lace. It was installed in the square on 5 August 1891.
