Although made as a garden ornament, this statue of a Buddhist monk points in a more transcendental direction.
I love this statue in a local churchyard, and I've often photographed it. In the summer, she has a tree canopy over her, but here with no leaves on the tree and the winter sun shining on her from the side, there are some very dramatic shadows on her face. The date on the base of the statue is 1896. No wonder she's so beautifully weathered.

i had my little vacations this last weekend.. i went to this beach.. Ensenada Baja California, walking down the shore i found this huge statue of a man made of whale bones..
there was a cool story about the eye on the front made of little gems.. but i dont remember it >.<

Nereid is a bronze statue near the civic centre of Cardiff.
'Nereid' is a name given to sea nymphs who, according to Greek mythology, are daughters of the sea god Nereus and are supposed to be friendly and helpful to sailors fighting perilous storms.

This bronze statue of a Dutch Cheesegirl is designed by Gerard Velzeboer and created by Fabio Pravisani. Local 'cheesegirl' Denise van Dort modelled for the statue and gave her her first kiss on the reveal in july 2016.

The world's largest bronze equestrian statue was bolted into place on October 25, 2006 at the entrance to El Paso, Texas's international airport. It stands 36 feet tall on an eight-foot base, and is the second-tallest statue in Texas, overshadowed only by a titanic Sam Houston in Huntsville.
The statue, first proposed in the mid-1990s, is of a horse-riding Spanish conquistador named Don Juan de Oñate. It initially drew approval from city officials because Oñate was known for celebrating the first Thanksgiving in The New World, near present-day El Paso, a good twenty years before the Pilgrims did the same in New England. As the project dragged on, however, Oñate's legacy grew more spotty. It turned out that he was known for other things, too, such as taking local Indians who didn't obey his rules (like celebrating Thanksgiving) and having their feet cut off.
In 2003, with construction already underway, the statue's name was changed as a compromise. It became the generic "The Equestrian," even though it was still a statue of Don Juan de Oñate.
Statue located at Peer Gynt nursing home at Moss - south Norway. My grand grand grand grand grand etc.. mother was one of the last to be burnt at the stake as a witch, in Elverum, Norway in 17th century - the pic is in memory of her, I can kind of feel the pain in my bones still.
This is the tomb of Marco Manuel Avellaneda who was the governor of Tucumán Province in Argentina, and father of the Argentine President Nicolás Avellaneda. He was executed after an unsuccessful revolt against the Federal government, and his head was displayed on a pike.The tomb is located in the famous Recoleta cemetery in Buenos Aires.
