Delaware Legislative Hall building in Dover, Delaware

Delaware Legislative Hall is the state capitol building of Delaware located in the state capital city of Dover on Legislative Avenue that houses the chambers and offices of the Delaware General Assembly. Front View.

I'd already gone up the Empire State itself and World Trade Centre when some local photographers I met said the best views of Manhattan were up the Rockefeller Centre. I didn't plan going up that as well but they were right. It's only a short distance from the Empire State and gave a spectacular view at twilight as it light up. The new World Trade Centre (or Freedom Tower) is in the background.

They didn't allow tripods up there so this is hand-holding. Just about got away with it.

Got out early today in the dark to hike for some sunrise photos along the Gunpowder River here in Maryland.

Pilot Knob State Park - Iowa

Out & About hiking the park looking for interesting colors and patterns in the autumn foliage. One branch can show the progression of color as it changes.

It's the simplicity of color and shapes I find so intriguing this time of year!

Gunpowder River under sunset conditions ... and just entering into Fall. Looks more bare now with Fall past full swing. Amazing that only a month can make a big difference.

Sunset along this pretty bend in the river.

Took this a month back for a project.

This park is in New York state and is often referred to as the Grand Canyon of the East. There are a series of 3 falls, Upper, Middle and the Lower falls. This one is the Upper falls and is spanned by a bridge used by trains. There is a lovely trail that climbs fairly gently up to the top. This is the Genesee River.

the following paragraph is copy/pasted from an article from the Burke Museum entitled NW Origins:

The geologic evolution of Washington State is one of the most fascinating geologic stories ever told. It is a tale of the breakup of ancient giant continents, the birth and death of great ocean basins, the collision of exotic islands, the uplift and wearing away of generations of mountain ranges, enormous floods of molten lava and great continental glaciers of the Ice Ages. Washington’s geologic history stretches back in time more than a billion years, and it continues to unfold around us every day.

Couldn't have said it better myself, but when you stand in places like this, (High Rock Peak) you can't help but wonder and marvel at the forces that create such splendor. This is the view facing West, the view East is much the same. IMMEDIATELY to the north towers Mount Rainier, to the south the remnants of Saint Helens and the second tallest peak in the state, Adams. In the faraway land of Oregon the pyramid face of Hood can be seen, it's like stepping back in time looking around and watching the Earth being made.

Union Pacific's Sharp, Utah - Valmy, Nevada coal train is making good time, rolling along State Street on the Provo Subdivision between American Fork and Lehi, Utah the afternoon of Nov. 3, 1985. The open fields that bordered the track are all gone now. In fact, a Costco big box store occupies this plot of land today. Time marches on, like it or not!

New year, new adventures! Yesterday I headed up to the mountains to snowshoe the Grace Lakes trail, a new trail for me, in an area I had not previously explored in the winter.

It was an incredible day, with some of the best snow conditions I have snowshoed in for a long time. And I knew it was going to be a special, after it rained for most of the drive up, but then the clouds lifted as I approached the Pass, and just as I was heading out on the trail, the sun crested the ridge and set the mountains alight.

The Nebraska State Capitol is the seat of government for the U.S. state of Nebraska and is located in downtown Lincoln. Designed by New York architect Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue in 1920, it was constructed of Indiana limestone from 1922 to 1932. The capitol houses the primary executive and judicial offices of Nebraska and is home to the Nebraska Legislature—the only unicameral state legislature in the United States.

The Nebraska State Capitol's 400-foot (120 m) tower can be seen up to twenty miles (32 km) away. It was the first state capitol to incorporate a functional tower into its design. Goodhue stated that "Nebraska is a level country and its capitol should have some altitude or beacon effect."[3] In 1976, the National Park Service designated the capitol a National Historic Landmark, and in 1997, the Park Service extended the designation to include the capitol grounds, which Ernst H. Herminghaus designed in 1932.

Known as the “Gateway to the North Shore,” Gooseberry Falls State Park near Two Harbors is well worth a stop even if your ultimate destination is farther north. Situated on the banks of Lake Superior, the park is home to five waterfalls, including three awe-inspiring—and loud!—falls where the water of the Gooseberry River roars through a rocky gorge on its way to Lake Superior.

This Waterfall Image, as well as a vast collection of other falls, is available to order by contacting me through www.tom-clark.net/waterfalls

If you are ever able to see an exhibit of Chiaharu Shiota's work, I strongly recommend it. She's super creative and interesting.

As expensive as Zurich was, there were some amazing modern art exhibits in the city and this was definitely one of them!

Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area is a state park in Pacific City, Oregon, United States. Cape Kiwanda is on the Three Capes Scenic Route, which includes Cape Meares and Cape Lookout. Hiking to the top of Cape Kiwanda allows views of Nestucca Bay to the south and Cape Lookout to the north.

A sea stack, named Chief Kiawanda Rock (note different spelling than Cape Kiwanda) is located 1⁄2 mile southwest of the cape. It is one of three features along the Oregon Coast that are called "Haystack Rock," though the one in Cannon Beach is more widely known.

The main attraction of the park is Trout Brook Falls, but I like the scene a hundred yards downstream better.
