3 hour 35 minute NW facing #StarTrails overnight 6th/7th Aug 2023 from Oxfordshire, UK. Canon 1100D + 18-55mm lens, mains powered with dew heater. 8sec ISO-1600 f/3.5. 1,470 images + 20 darks were stacked with #StarStaX.
Tried star trails for the first time in ages last night. Unfortunately some light cloud started coming over after 15 mins so I coulnd't stay as long as I'd have liked- one to try again though.
here is a quick shot from this friday night fun fest. David and I whent up to Vedauwoo, Wy for a night of camping and shooting. we where lucky enough to get the great Michael to come up and shoot with us! i cannot speak for everyone else, but i had a blast and this is our supper cooking shot, and you can see the fire reflected on the trees. i left in the headlamp streak of Michael and his wife (david you are not the only one bad with namos... she was a total blast though!!!) going up to take this shot www.flickr.com/photos/fortphoto/3868179061/
i dont know if i will PS them out and those pesky clouds, but i think that it adds somthing.... maybe my crappyness!!! :) this is the result of 181 frames at 30 seconds, or one hour and a half and stacked in a program called startrails.exe it is a very simple yet seemingly powerfull program that allows darkframes to help with the noise issue.
Again the Mudam , one of my favorites buildings in luxembourg combined with some tiny startrails on top of the museum ! (11.4..2011)

I had a go at doing star trails last night. Not wholly successfully because the lens fogged up completely about 3/4 of the way through. This is about 60 exposures each at 30secs and then stacked together. I had about 80 shots in total, but the mist on the lens meant that the last 20 were no good and I couldn't use them; otherwise the trails would have been a bit longer. The interval between the exposures was a bit too long too, hence the morse code appearance to the trails.

(If anyone has any tips please let me know!)
2nd attempt at star trails, trying the stacking method with this one, seems to bring out the trails better than the long exposure shot
30 shots stacked with 15 darks
30 second exposures

A quick experiment. I was checking out a location for some startrail shots, wasnt sure how this turbine would look. I'll go and do it properly tomorrow night.
