2 hours in a muddy cold dark field turned out to be time well spent!

Hallo zusammen

Gruss Martin

Here is the Racton Ruins Startrails image. A few peolpe have asked to see it. I think it looks a bit messy. I'm happy with it but i think i know how to improve on this image.

While I was shooting star trails up north the Aurora borealis was seen! What an amazing combination!

Approximately 2 hour exposure with the Bronica S2a, 50mm Nikkor on Ilford Delta 100 Home processed in D-76 for 11.5 minutes, 30 sec agitations.

This was a tough one. It was very windy with heaps of clouds, showers and not much moon. And I left a fireside jam with 2 great mates to take it. If you look close on black you can see the Star Trails.

After a few more attempts I got the startrails I was wanting. Now I need to find a good foreground. The trees in my backyard are so boring.

Woohoo!

Mono Lake in the Eastern Sierra of California is well-known for a number of reasons: the majestic calcium carbonate tufa towers, exposed by many years of zero water conservation efforts, and the battle to save the area so important to wildlife ecosystems.

I was surprised this 55-minute startrail effort worked at all. It was SO windy and I was sure my tripod was blowing just like I was trying to stand still. Foreground light provided by a setting waxing crescent moon and some additional help from my Brinkman torch. Highway 395 in the distance. Another cool thing about this is the various colors in the star streaks - the cooler streaks are actually the hotter stars and the warmer streaks are actually cooler stars.
