I got annoyed by part of the background in the previous image and went to work in PS to fix it. I moved the giraffe to a separate layer and thought it made an interesting effect :-)

I found these batteries in the tech area at our church (which I am somewhat in charge of). I was waiting for the new Yosemite to upload to the sanctuary computer and was wasting some time grabbing shots here and there. I was hoping this one would turn out interesting. And yes, I turned the one over so the blue would show. The hardest thing was keeping them from falling over. The container was not full.

With shiny red pompoms, Stowe Elementary School held an assembly Wednesday morning to pass out Standout Stowie Awards to hard working students for completing their academic and reading goals this year. More red pompoms waved as Principal Tiona Sandbulte accepted the North-Star Wayfinder Award. Stowe is just one of three schools nationally to receive the award for demonstrating an outstanding commitment to implementing Wayfinder learning with fidelity and excellence. There they are. My first sighting of Scarlet Paintbrush plants. Since we were hiking a trail on a preserve, I did not want to traipsing over there to photograph them up close. Fortunately, found some that were more accessible a little farther ahead.
I decided one Scarlet Paintbrush photo wasn't enough to have on Flickr. I wanted to share the rest of my small set from this early May hike since it was a "new to me" flower. I left this one a little dark on purpose during processing as it really seemed to make the red pop.
