A lone man walks casually along the passageway at the Westfield World Trade Centre Shopping Mall in Lower Manhatten, New York. It was a fabulous opportunity to compose and wait for the right moment to get the shot, it was getting late and the mall was quiet allowing me to capture the incredible detail of the corridor, vast in appearence but isolative with the presence of the lone stranger.

Labor Day weekend.
Sagrada Família again, and this time it's great doors, which serve as the main entrance, are printed with words from the Bible in various languages including Catalan; the word JESUS and select others are painted to stand out.
When the sun starts to set the embossed lettering casts shadows and catches light to create vivid contrasts.
This sunflower stands out from the rest of the field thanks to the backlight from the sunset and my Lensbaby!
This tree just glowed in the sunlight. This is how it looked to me from fifty yards away. But the SOOC image was dull and lacked contrast and interest. Lightroom to the rescue! HSS!
Discover a standout piece of San Francisco’s architectural landscape at Sunset Co-op Nursery School. This modern building, with its vibrant yellow exterior and expansive glass windows, exemplifies the city’s blend of contemporary design and historic charm. Situated at a bustling street corner, the school’s bold color and sleek lines create a striking contrast against the traditional residential backdrop. This structure not only serves as an educational institution but also as a symbol of the community’s forward-thinking spirit. Its flat roofline and clean angles offer a refreshing departure from the classic Victorian and Edwardian styles that dominate the area. Perfectly capturing the eclectic essence of San Francisco, this building is a must-see for architecture enthusiasts and locals alike.
These are not standout photos of mine. They were taken many years ago, probably about 2003 to document the fact that I hand-raised a little dove that we called Duck. My grand daughter Tamika named him that and I have often wondered if that caused any identity problems for him lol.
I kept him for a very long time and one day quite by accident he got out of his cage and flew away. He never looked back .... the ungrateful thing.
Actually he never really left. He stayed close by and came to feed at my frontyard feeder with the rest of the birds that come daily. Eventually he found a mate and brought her along too and then one day he turned up with his partner and 2 baby doves. I was so HAPPY. I'm sure duck has passed on now but I still have his descendants come very day to eat at our feeder which is a constant reminder of a gorgeous little pet.
Lara’s pink top made her standout from the crowd as she came towards me so I stepped forward and introduced my stranger project to her. I decided to photograph Lara where we were as we’d met by a church that had some hedges, bushes and trees along it’s boundary wall and I thought the green of the leaves would really set off the colour of Lara’s top. Lara took her glasses off for the photograph.
Lara told me she was from London but was now living in Nottingham whilst she attended university. Lara said she was studying politics and international relations before moving on to a law course as she’d like to be a barrister.
In her free time, Lara likes to read – mainly romance, fantasy and mystery books. Lara also enjoys looking at world media. Lara is also a keen cook and said her favourite dish to make is lasagne.
I asked Lara to describe herself in one word and she said impathetic.
Is there an item Lara can’t live without? “My glasses,” she said.
If I could grant Lara a wish, what would it be for? “Eternal happiness,” she replied.
Thank-you Lara for saying yes to being photographed for my stranger project. I hope you like your portrait.
This picture is number 485 in my 100 Strangers project, yes, I’ve decided to do a fifth round. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page

Another from Saturday morning's fantastic sunrise and featuring the spectacular "melted" white rocks that are scattered along this stretch of industrial coastline.
White rocks are a godsend to photographers. All of a sudden most of the problems of balancing the strong sunrise with the dark shadows on the far edge of a dark rock disappear, and you are free to focus on composition. With a strong foreground element like this one, I decided to exclude everything else and leave it as a sole point of focus for the image.

It’s hard to hide in this kimono. It’s large and in charge.
No rest for the wicked. I returned from travel to assist with a conference with 100+ attendees. If the event coordinators needed to find me, I was easily spotted in this ensemble. This kimono stands out in a crowd.
