Low rays of the late afternoon sun at the Waite Arboretum turn the long stalks on this native bush into glowing stalks.

" I know that I can't have it all
But without you I am afraid I'll fall
I know I'm playing with your heart
And I could treat you better but I'm not that smart
When it comes to love, you're an easy fight
A flower in a gun, a bird in flight
It isn't fair and it isn't right
To lead you on like it's all alright
I played with your heart
And I could treat you better but I'm not that smart
You still mean everything to me
To me
But I wanna be free .."

"Stalking can have devastating consequences, and I am determined that we do all we can to protect victims from these prolonged and terrifying campaigns of abuse that can last years, leaving many people too afraid to leave their homes and unable to get on with their lives. "

I've tried this scene a few times before; most folk shoot the castle from the nearest point, that headland over on the right, but I much prefer this view. It needs a very full tide though, and some drama in the sky. I suffered for my art this morning, over an hour in torrential rain before a break in the cloud gave that bit of hope in the sky and brightened up the river. Was hoping for a little shaft of sunlight to hit the castle but wasn't to be. Oh well, it will still be there next week.
The original castle was a small fort, built around 1320 by Clan MacDougall who were then Lords of Lorn.[4] Around 1388 the Stewarts took over the Lordship of Lorn, and it is believed that they built the castle in its present form around the 1440s. The Stewarts' relative King James IV of Scotland visited the castle, and a drunken bet around 1620 resulted in the castle passing to Clan Campbell. After the castle changed hands between these clans a couple of times, the Campbells finally abandoned it about 1840 when it lost its roof. In 1908 the castle was bought by Charles Stewart of Achara, who carried out basic conservation work. In 1965 Lt. Col. D. R. Stewart Allward acquired the castle and over about ten years fully restored it. Castle Stalker remains in private ownership and is open to the public at selected times during the summer.[5]
Castle Stalker is a picturesque castle built on a tidal islet in Loch Laich, an inlet of Loch Linnhe in Argyll, the Scottish Highlands. It can only be reached by boat but its' scenic setting makes for a very romantic location.

With every placement of her tall slender legs, this Female Great Blue Heron stalks the shallow water for her next meal.
Blue?? Well, this immature Little Blue Heron is in the process of molting away the white feathers of youth and replacing them with the blue-gray plumage of an adult bird.
See the photos in the comments for other views of this beautiful bird.
There is also a photo of one still all in white below (in-flight)

I watched this green heron stalking prey for quite a long time. Alas, he didn't capture anything while I watched him/her. This one was pretty small. Much smaller than a crow. Though bird references would have you believe otherwise, we see green herons year-round here in the Phoenix area.
There are two bears at the ZooAmerica and hundreds of black vultures that have made the zoo their home. They keep stalking, pecking and biting them most of the time.
Thanks for your visit and taking the time to comment so I can visit your photos, too... very much appreciated! Have a great day!🙋♀️

After a couple of visits hoping to get a sunrise or sunset of Castle Stalker I realised the weather wasn't going to change so my idea for the shot changed and I headed out to the castle with my waterproofs on! The rain came in handy as the mountains in the background completely disappeared!!
Stealthily, Earnie tiptoed towards his prey as light spilled over the pond like golden honey. Too much? OK, how about, Great egret stalks fish at sunrise.
