Transport Interchange - External Render
Glasgow is a city built for 1 million people. Today, however, the population is only 600,000. The introduction of the car to the city coincided with the shift from the industrial city to one based on the service lead economy. Populations moved from the inner city to the suburbs resulting in a fragmented city, littered with vacant and derelict land.
This project aims to tackle this post-industrial condition which exists in Glasgow by forging new transport links allowing the inner city to be more accessible without the car. Today people are increasingly dependent on public transport as a result of both economic and environmental factors. This overlapping of the transport networks will precipitate a butterfly effect, enabling urban growth in the areas of vacant and derelict land. The building creates a social condenser in the heart of the city which celebrates everyday life and culture.

Team Astana has been pulling the train along the Central Coast, with none of the other teams taking their turn. Winds are nasty, the cold rain is nasty, and the riders all look miserable. These guys are averaging about 18 to 19 mph. Several pulled out after the hard mountain stage yesterday
