This is the second stack sequence, taken at the closest focusing distance of my macro rig (2:1 reproduction ratio)
I found this dead hoverfly in the corner of a windowsill (one of the benefits of not keeping on-top of the house work). Granted, deceased is not the way I like to photograph my insects, but thought it deserved a couple of focus stacking attempts.
I placed the poor little fellow on a sheet of white paper, set my canon EF 100mm macro lens on 68mm of extension tubes and mounted the whole lot on a tripod mounted Manfrotto macro focusing rail. Lighting was provided by a diffused canon 420 EX camera left. I then proceded to shoot a sequence of 19 images, gradually stepping the focus rail forwards with each exposure. Here is the resulting focus stacked image, processed using Zerene stacker and PMAX output with a bit of retouching from source images.
Things to change next time around: don't use plain copy paper, it's very fiberous. Thanks to afterforty for suggesting matt photopgraphic paper

Organize heavy, bulky items with strong, roomy, stackable storage tote units that resist corrosion and distortion. Plastic storage boxes and bins from Akro-Mils and Rubbermaid are perfect for small or large odds and ends perfect for any workplace.
To go with our stacks of books? I'm thinking the students were getting a little punchy at the end of finals.
(The student here is not responsible for this stack of chairs. He was only part of my photographic investigation.)
Out Stack or Ootsta in Shetland, Scotland, is the northernmost point of the British Isles and has been described as "the full stop at the end of Britain".
It lies 600 m (2,000 ft) northeast of Muckle Flugga and 1.8 miles (2.9 km) north of the island of Unst.
It is one of the North Isles of the Shetland Islands and lies within the Hermaness National Nature Reserve.
It is uninhabited and there is no landfall directly to the north.

this is amazing - the old chimney stack core for a house with nothing around it. there are so many opening in it on all sides, just imagine all the different rooms and people on each floor.

Former mansion of the lumber baron J.P. Weyerhaeuser in Tacoma, Washington.
This is a view of part of the back of the mansion. If you turn 180 degrees from this view, you'll be overlooking Puget Sound. From this view, you can see more of the intricate brickwork up to the twin stacks coming out the top.
If you look at the large size, you can see the fish carving above the stairs and below the twin stacks. Some have speculated that it's a representation of a Christian symbol, but to me it looks a little more like a buddhist fish stylistically.
This mansion was built by J.P. Weyerhaeuser in the early 1920's. You can see a little more about this mansion on this previous picture.
These are the books that I'm currently reading or that I'm getting ready to read. So much to read, so little time
Stacking Experiement.
After this one similar phot few days ago, I tried more of that, but with a bit more control, so digital base photos. Not every subject is suited, but I think this is a variant of „multiexposure“ I like better that the 2 or 3 overlays you have usually. But, honestly, I don't know whether I will put more time in this.
It's my first stack of twos, to be used as my spending money from now on. No star notes, but they are consecutive serial numbers from Minneapolis. Strangely enough, Where's George? shows that nearly half of all the two's in their system come from Minneapolis.
Well, it's trying to be a Focus stacking image of a wooden post, but my technique is flawed at the moment. Although it does look better than the other two
Week 10/52
Theme: Stack It
2013 Ellenburg Project 52
I had a newborn scheduled for Thursday and I had lots of ideas about things I could stack with the baby. Baby on a stack of books, towels, suitcases, etc... Unfortunately, school was cancelled and therefore my shoot was also cancelled. So I guess I'll have to settle for a stack of suitcases without a baby. (Just a side note, I would never stack a baby this high, my plan was to just use the two big blue suitcases.) Thanks to my mom for giving my all her old suitcases, I love them. My husband on the other hand is less than thrilled with them, hehehe.
Before Mamen's dinner party the chairs were stacked on the edge of the room to make space for setting the tables. As some of you may know, I have a fetish for chair legs.
20 x 30 second exposures stacked together to form this single 10-minute exposure of the Swellendam night sky.
There was a cloud moving past so some of the stars fade-out or fade-in.
Rearranging the rocks seems to be the big thing at Ohiopyle lately. There were some that were more than just stacks (though I didn't see any arches today). Here's one of mine.
Large, green shipping containers stacked on top of each other. A person stands on the rooftop, which is filled with scientific equipment attached to metal poles.
A focus stacked photo of a Broad-palmed Frog (Litoria latopalmata). I like the effect of focus stacking, but my camera cannot do it with the flash turned on. Therefore, I am left to try on frogs I find in the day.

sorry
i made lots
i got up at 5.30am whilst on holiday one day to go to the cove and stack. The peace and tranquility was immense.
i built a set of 18 stacks in perfect alignment across the cove. unfortunately 18 sacks in a single line don't photograph well. they looked bloody brilliant though. as you walked in and out of the alignment you either saw one or a mass of stacks.
inspired by the master bebalance www.flickr.com/photos/rocker/sets/72157602341391436/ i tried counterbalancing stones. it made for more delicately balanced stacks.
i am going to upload the rest of the photos later. there are far too many but feel i have to put them all up.
