Viewed from RSPB South Stack
North Stack (Welsh: Ynys Arw, meaning "rugged island") is a small island situated just off Holy Island on the north-west coast of Anglesey.
North Stack can also refer to the headland opposite the island. This is the site of a redundant fog warning station, comprising a number of buildings, including the Trinity House Magazine, built in 1861, where shells for the warning cannon were stored. These buildings now house a bird watching observatory, giving a view of South Stack lighthouse across Gogarth Bay, and the studio of artist Philippa Jacobs. The Precambrian quartzite cliffs of this headland, including North Stack Walls and Wen Zawn, provide one of the largest ranges of rock climbs in Britain, such as "A Dream of White Horses", "The Cad" and "The Bells! The Bells!" The climbing areas at North Stack have been documented since the 1970s in a series of local guidebooks. Leading climbers such as Paul Pritchard have put up many extreme new routes.
The stack was the site of a crash of a US Eighth Air Force B-24 Bomber on 22 December 1944 that killed the eight crew on board

River Ice on the edge of the Hudson River. The Hudson is a tidal River, and thus lends itself to such grand fluctuation , The coast Guard mans an Ice cutter daily to keep a channel open , which add to these natural ice stacks! Ice on the River is one of my favorite things to photograph , it is always changing and amazingly beautiful...despite the cold! Thanks for your visit and comment
When it became dark enough, and the camera settings were sensitive enough, light was getting picked up on the sea stacks. I couldn't tell if it was all moonlight, or whether there was a component of light from the town of La Push.
This pelican just wanted the other pelicans spot. There was an empty pole next to that one but he wanted this one. They must be siblings.

The iconic green wooden houses of the Zaan region were the fount of inspiration for the designers of the Inntel Hotel (WAM architecten, Delft). The structure is a lively stacking of various examples of these traditional houses, ranging from a notary’s residence to a worker’s cottage. ‘The Blue House’ at the top corner has been inspired by the work Claude Monet painted at Zaandam in 1871.

Unfortunately it was a windy night, so only a few pictures were usable.
This is my first serious attempt at Macro. I used 68mm worth of extensions tubes on my AF-S 24-85mm VR since it stops down to f/29 instead of only f/16 like my 50mm prime. I didn't want to mess with trying to focus stack for just the hint more DOF that I wanted.
It's lit by 1 SB-800 which is on it's OEM stand on the table to camera left and is pointed at a wall to camera left about 2 feet away. It's set to 1/1 and 24mm zoom. The flash was triggered with a Neewer radio trigger. A homemade reflector made from aluminum foil is on the opposite side to provide a little fill.
