The iconic green wooden houses of the Zaan region were the fount of inspiration for the designers of the Inntel Hotel (WAM architecten, Delft). The structure is a lively stacking of various examples of these traditional houses, ranging from a notary’s residence to a worker’s cottage. ‘The Blue House’ at the top corner has been inspired by the work Claude Monet painted at Zaandam in 1871.

The Stack Rocks at the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast in South Wales are isolated rock pillars in the sea. Once part of the mainland, the sea was working off weaker parts of the rock, leaving these pillars. As usual, my travel planning wasn’t ideal and I took this long exposure around midday on a grey and dull day. Note to self: Come back to this beauty spot in the morning or evening hours…

Unfortunately it was a windy night, so only a few pictures were usable.
Stacked with Astro Pixel Processor, edit in PixInsight. First real night imaging with new Telescope. It's a beginning, and feeling good so far. Just starting to learn Pixinsight. Steep learning curve.

Power plant with one stack steaming at Moss Landing, just north of Monterey, California.
Just saw a news article about this place. The power plant is coming down but the stacks are going to stay. 9/20/23.

I took a trip to John O'Groats and the weather forecast was awful ... well, the meteorologists got that wrong! So, I took a delightful walk along the coastal path and admired the sea stacks.
we got two cords of wood delivered to finish out this rainy season and to take us into the next. the wood stove is our only source of heat except for some portable heaters in really cold areas in the house during the winter.
leon has been stacking for days. I helped him with 2 cart loads, into the cart and then onto the wood pile. it hurts my back, but I can do a little at a time. it's good for me.
