St. Catherine's Church, Hamburg

This time I drew the St.Godehardt Basilica, the former abbey church built between 1133 and 1172, with an unobstructed view from the Kehrwiederwall, as the trees have hardly any leaves.

The Kehrwiederwall is part of several ramparts that were built in the 15th century to protect the city of Hildesheim.

The stunning church by Bartley Green Reservoir

The church dates from the 15th century. It was altered around 1751 when the wooden tower was rebuilt in stone, restored in 1873 and there were other alterations and additions 1931 – 1932 by Bateman. There was another restoration in 1947 following a fire.

The tower main arch has a hood mould with head stops depicting King George V and Queen Mary.

The building is constructed from sandstone in a red and grey colour, until 1965 the tower contained two bells.[2] A new church hall was constructed in 2005

St. Mariä Heimsuchung, a Catholic parish church, whose consecration dates on 19 June 1299. In the coming decades and centuries, it was continuously expanded. The Taufstein dates back to 1620

This is St Cuthberts chapel at Alnmouth in Northumberland, We could not find our way here on our last visit to this area but having done more research on Google earth we at last found a spot to leave our car and follow a track to this point.

Built in 1869-70, the Mortuary chapel was built as part of a plan to reopen a cemetery on Church Hill south of the village of Alnmouth. The chapel is not the first church building on the hill, St Waleric's chapel stood on the hill before gradually declining after the reformation along with unrest and erosion of the hill. In the early 1800's a storm broke through the peninsula cutting off the village from the hill and diverting the river The chapel had its roof removed by the National Trust to deter squatters and is now grade 2 listed.

This is a two shot blend to retain detail in the sky, The wet area on the right is part of the harbour / river Aln. I don`t like the holiday caravans on the far bank but I wanted to show part of the river .

I have many more shots of this chapel and the cross on the hill plus the river so I will concentrate on this area for the next few days .

Sunday morning seemed like a good time to post this image of nearby St Andrews Lutheran Church taken on one of frosty mornings we have had lately.

This shot is from the other side of the Abbey and was taken on a fairly grey day. The only benefit being that the tree in the foreground is leafless enabling one to see through to the warm tones of the building.

St Albans Cathedral, formally the Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Alban, and referred to locally as "the Abbey", is a Church of England cathedral in St Albans, England. Much of its architecture dates from Norman times. It ceased to be an abbey in the 16th century and became a cathedral in 1877. Although legally a cathedral church, it differs in certain particulars from most other cathedrals in England: it is also used as a parish church, of which the dean is rector with the same powers, responsibilities and duties as that of any other parish.

Probably founded in the 8th century, the present building is Norman or Romanesque architecture of the 11th century, with Gothic and 19th-century additions.

The nave at 84 metres is said to be the longest in the UK.

With travel plans now on hold for a while and the camera gathering dust, I thought I would add some photos from places I have visited over the years. The picturesque lake at St. Wolfgang, Austria, May 2018. Stay safe everyone.

This morning I took a trip over to St Germans in Cornwall to get a shot of the viaduct. I'd been hoping for a clear blue sky and no wind for a while and I had the perfect morning for it today.

This shot was taken from the quay at St Germans Sailing Club.

The viaduct was built in 1899 to replace the old wooden one and is 106ft high, has 17 arches and spans 978ft across the River Tiddy.

St chlotilde est une église gothique.. Le traitement HDR se prête bien au gothique d'ailleurs... Cela n'a aucun sens ce que je viens d'écrire.......

Built across the marshlands of the Neva River delta, St. Petersburg is interlaces with around a hundred tributaries and canals with a total length of 300 kilometers and over 800 bridges crossing them. In the city centre, St. Petersburg's famous granite embankments are home to many ...

Had a walk out at sunset at took this shot of the nearby Church of St Michaels, in the little village of St Michaels on Wyre. It is a Medieval Church with this tower dating back to 1549 and lies adjacent to the River Wyre.

I liked the path with the cropped Yew Trees lining its course and the low sunlight highlighting the stonework.

Jh. stammt.

St. Andrews Cathedral, founded in 1158, which was approximately 119m (391 feet) long, is the largest church to have been built in Scotland.

The precinct walls are particularly well preserved. St Rule's Tower, in the background, is part of the first church of the Augustinian canons at St Andrews built in the early 12th century.
