A SRM for the Joint Polar Satellite System-1 (JPSS-1) launch is guided toward the open door at Space Launch Complex 2 on Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.The JPSS-1 mission will launch aboard a United Launch Alliance Delta II rocket, employing nine SRMs to deliver the satellite to orbit. JPSS, a next-generation environmental satellite system, is a collaborative program between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and NASA. Launch is targeted for 2017.
