Another Killdeer, slightly sharper than the last one. I like the squinting look it gave me when I took the shot.
It was a bright day outside and the ceremonies were conducted indoors, so as the dignitaries emerged the bright light lit their faces.
"The Squint" looking down to the main hall from the solar at "Great Dixter" in Sussex. The solar contained the private quarters in a medieval house.
The Squint into the Great Hall was a typical feature of such houses but in fact was inserted by Lutyens in the 1900's.

It is said that if you gaze at the sunset and squint just so you can see Mount Olympus - home to the entire pantheon of Greek gods. Trying to achieve this so called 'Golden Squint' has led many a scholar to his doom but this lady seems to have nailed it without really trying. I wonder what she can see up there?

On my recent trip to holland, I came across these flats in Rotterdam that are built in a cube pattern with walls that lay at 45 degrees.
The little sunlight we had was getting in my eyes causing me to squint. Not a hood look lol.
Heading of to my shift as observer, hopefully it's a quiet day I could do with sitting around doing nothing.
If you dont look too hard... well you know. Big girls pull by an ex BN nee GN #518. The little green guy will be shipped out the next day for other points on the ILSX grid. Was pretty neat seeing the two schemes next to each other.
Trying to take a selfie with Danielle in Curaçao and I couldn't figure out if I needed the flash with the regular camera
Candid shot, Tromso Norway.
Squint, means to look with the eyes partly closed. It may also refer to:
Squint, a commonly used alternative name for the medical condition, strabismus.
or
Squint, an alternative name for a hagioscope, in architecture.
A hagioscope or squint, in architecture, is an opening through the wall of a church in an oblique direction, to enable the worshippers in the transepts or other parts of the church, from which the altar was not visible, to see the elevation of the host.
Hagioscopes were also sometimes known as "leper windows" wherein a squint was made in an external wall so that lepers and other non-desirables could see the service without coming into contact with the rest of the populace.
There was a brief respite from all the rain we have had a couple of days ago.
I made the most of the respite heading out along the seafront with the camera. There were plenty of other people about & lots of dogs too.
This dog was paying close attention to something along the seafront. He was trying to focus on someone in the distance, but I don't know if he was a bit short sighted from the way he was squinting.
Bridgetown, Barbados shot for the set I am doing with the Jupiter 11 4/135 vintage russian lens.
