a female house sparrow at the feeder

I found this honey bee in a waterlogged plant pot today. It was soaked so I moved it into the sun to dry off. It eventually flew off, but stayed still long enough for me to get a few shots. Anyone know what that is on it's back? Babies? They have legs....
